I was involved in an accident that went through insurance and went to a shop recommended by a friend, Japanese auto body & paint. My car was in the shop for a month and when I got back to retrieve my car, my car door was already open and I was assisted in getting inside. I drove across the street and while getting doughnuts, I inspect my car. I still had a lot of damage. Most notably my passenger side door wouldn't open as a result of the accident and my right side door still won't open. The damaged fender was clearly never repaired or replaced. There are scratches all around the hood, dents on the trunk, and parts that are missing. Inside my trunk wires were exposed and the inner liner wasn't placed properly. I also had a small cosmetic piece on my car fall off after attempting to open the door.
I drove back across the street and immediately show the shop owner what's wrong. After initially telling the shop owner that my door still won't open he stated that it was because the insurance company didn't approve for the replacement of the fender and that it couldn't be repaired. (At first he told me all parts were replaced). I called the appraiser the next day and was informed that they were paid for the replacement of the fender and sent receipts showing that they were paid for the replacement of multiple parts. The auto body shop received shy of $*** to repair the damage on my car.
Becoming more suspicious I took my car to 2 different body shops and got immediate quotes of about $*** worth of damage. Representatives of this independent shop looked at the receipts and both are confident that, fender, lights, rear panel, etc weren't replaced and that most of the car wasn't painted or blended. Two different shops stated that they'd never seen a situation this bad. I contacted ***, the owner, again but no response in over a month. This body shop very clearly scammed me out of proper repairs and I do not trust this shop to touch my car again.
