Dear H***,
This correspondence is in regards to a customer *** ***'s complaint ID# ***
On 8/27/while I was on vacation *** *** called with an
unusual complaint & was told to call us back after the Labor Day Holiday
*** *** called us back on 9/09/and asked if we would come out to check his A/C unit, complaining of seeing dirt in through his front grille
I explained to him that he would have to pay $+ tax for a service call being the unit was slightly over years old & out of the manufactures
year parts & labor warranty period (unit installed 8/22/12)He did NOT want to pay to have us look at the unitHe proceeded to ask me to just come out & look
at the unit & back him up in his complaint to the manufacture (Friedrich) in hopes of getting a new replacement unit due to "his diagnosis" of some dirt he could see
thru the front grille
I told him I could "NOT" do that!!! I asked him to call *** & express his complaint to them*** has at times extended it's 1st.year warranty & paid companies
like ourselves to look at the unit & report back to them & subsequently making repairs and covering the cost to do so
He told me he was going to call a lawyer & we have had no contact until receiving your letter
*** # is ###-###-####
Also, his cost for the unit was $+ $for removing his old unit & sleeve from the wall installation, adjusting the wall opening to fit the new unit, delivering
and installing the new sleeve and unit & sealing both the inside & outsideHis complaint stated the install was $There was also a cost of $for a freon recycle fee
for removing the unit from the premises and disposing of it correctly as opposed to leaving it on the front curbTotal cost included Phila8% sales tax

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: I 've removed the front vent and attached some pictures which clearly expose a breach in what should be an internally sealed area.

Dear H[redacted],
This second correspondence is a follow up or your letter dated 09/29/14.
Customer / Complaint # [redacted].
Your customers "self diagnosis" of some breach exposure can be confirmed with a "service call" of $85.00 + tax.
As stated before he can call [redacted] at ###-###-#### if he feels his "self diagnosis" is a manufacture defect.
We would assume that the manufacture will make the call to one of there servicing agent (possible us) if they feel his complaint is warranted .
Regards,
Bob
Review: I purchased A [redacted] AC August 22, 2012. The next summer season 2013, during normal usage, I noticed black soot gathering in the contained area where cool air flows out from. I thought OK, maybe a little it's normal. This summer 2014, this soot is gathering more aggressively in what is supposed to be a sealed compartment. I don't use the vent and never have. I called Mr. Jarman to look at it, and he was very adamant about me spending 85.00 dollars for a service call. I said this is not a service call, but rather an emergency for an obvious internal leakage problem. He asked if I was an expert. I'm not, but anyone can see that the unit is pulling in dirt from outside. I want this complaint on file for a record, in case of mold spore growth.Desired Settlement: The business should look at the problem visually and evaluate and repair or replace . I paid over 1100 dollars ( 700 for unit, 400 for install) of the last of my savings. I shouldn't have to spend another dime this soon after purchase.
