Beware of this designer.
Jarret was hired to design my apartment. There was a deadline to complete the job and he accepted it. I deposited money it into his account as he requested so he could get started right away. Unfortunately, he did not get started right away and missed the deadline. I tried reaching him multiple times. He was unresponsive and yelled at me for expecting him to return my calls. However, he was responsive enough to send me a late night demand for cash to be deposited into his account the next day! For what??? He had not done any work and we were past the deadline! Then, he threatened to not work unless I deposited cash into his account the next day! Additionally, he informed me he was also leaving to Hawaii the next day and would not be reachable.... However, I could speak with one of his many assistants. When I asked for a name he failed to provide one.
In addition to all this he did manage to order furniture from one store using my credit card. When I asked him what he ordered, where he ordered it from, and how much it cost, he refused to answer me. (I asked him many times.) Jarret said he would send me the receipt once he received it. Hmmm. Really? He had no idea what he ordered and where he ordered it from? I managed to track the purchase through my credit card company. The store informed me they had emailed Jarret the receipt at the time of purchase! The only reason he did not send it to me was because he was getting paid a HUGE premium on the order! An additional $1000 plus what I had already been paid him in addition to the extra cash he was demanding!!!
When I asked for a refund for my deposit, Jarret claims to be getting paid hourly and therefore he owes me nothing. The problem is he maybe spent an hour in total but claims to have spent a week. This person has no integrity, at all!

Jarret Y[redacted] is a fraud! Do not hire him! He will charm and dazzle you, take your money, and leave you with no finished product. I hired Jarret to help me design my apartment. Before hiring him I specifically told him there was a deadline. He accepted the deadline and my deposit. In fact, he asked me to make my deposit for him so he could get to work right away. So, eager to get started and excited by all the wonderful reviews I read about him on his website, I made the deposit. What happened next? You guessed it! He was unreachable! He only sent me a few pictures from a magazine and then called to tell me he was in the hospital with an [redacted]. A couple days later he emailed me at 9pm to demand I deposit more money into his account the next day, before continuing to work. Cash for what?!! He hadn't even started working and we were already past our deadline! Huh? It was then informed me he was leaving the next day on a plane to Hawaii and he would not be available but one of his "assistants" would help me. I asked for the name of one of his assistants. He failed to provide me with anyone's name. Additionally, Jarret used my credit card to order furniture without telling me what he was ordering. I repeatedly asked him what items were ordered and what store did he order from? He told me he would provide that information once he received the receipt. Hmmm. He didn't know what he ordered and what store it was coming from???? I finally tracked down the merchandise after speaking with my credit card company. Jarret was getting paid $1000 on the order he made and he already had a copy of the receipt emailed to him! What a little fake and bully!!! Do not be fooled by his "decorator charm." When I asked him for a refund for my deposit he said "According to our contract he was getting paid by the hour and therefore, did not owe me anything." However, he never provided any proof of his time....That is because he spent absolutely no time working! Do no be fooled by Jarret. He is a fraud.

Review: We have experienced a series of dubious business practices with Jarret Yoshida's interior design business that we wanted to get on record, as follows:1) Jarret repeatedly misrepresented the cost of a dining room table set he found for us in Florida. We have in writing him telling us the total cost of the table was "$5500 total plus shipping." He knew we were uncomfortable with that price but talked us into it as a good investment. He then sent us an invoice for $1,722.11 more than the "total" cost to cover his fee for finding the item. We quickly (in less than one hour) said we no longer wanted the dining set, but he said it was too late. He also told us NOT to contact the vendor (SoBe Art in Florida) to inquire about whether or not we could get out of the purchase.2) We paid for the dining room table and shipping (less his commission), but severed our relationship with Jarret. He kept $1,487.42 of a $2,087.40 retainer we had paid him (in addition to cost of dining room set).3) Jarret charged us $203.52 to arrange shipping. Despite our written requests, he refused to provide tracking or even the name of the shipping company that would deliver items. He told us not to contact the mover ([redacted]) directly.4) On June **, 2014, we received the dining room table set. This included a sideboard table that Jarret's hand-picked movers insisted was part of our order. Despite our requests, they refused to provide paperwork to confirm receipt of the items. We accepted the delivery believing this sideboard table was part of the original dining set order. 5) Then, on Friday, July **, nearly six weeks after the delivery, [redacted] said he needed to gain access to our home pick up the sideboard table as it was sold to another customer. Jarret accused us of accepting an item that does not belong to us, and refused to discuss the matter with us directly, telling us to only talk to his hand-picked mover ([redacted]) to arrange pickup of sideboard we were told belongs to us.Desired Settlement: We would like to sever our relationship with [redacted] and his mover, [redacted], and ensure that both of them stop trying to gain access to our home to remove an item delivered six weeks ago that we were told was part of our initial order.Thank you.
