Jason Rorie Contracting Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]Although Jason says there was no written contract we did have a verbal agreement with witnesses. I'm not sure why he's complaining about extra work as he was paid for and agreed to do said work. Jason also agreed to start work the week after we got our house. He didn't start for two weeks. He spent whatever spare time he had at my house sitting on his phone talking to clients and offering sexual pleasures in exchange for her not being able to pay for work. As for harassment claims I'm unsure of what he is talking about. I did post an ad on [redacted] and Facebook warning others of his work with pictures to which hundreds of people have agreed that his work was sub par. My issues with his work are mostly cosmetic and him not taking an extra 10 minutes to do the job right. When questioned about his work and I stated I would mark in pencil my issues, Jason text me "slow your roll we will talk about it when I'm there." Our next interaction was voice recorded and I have recording of Jason agreeing to fix everything that I complained about. After my complaint he threw a fit and left the job half done. Also have pictures of this. I have witnesses of agreed upon amounts and work to be done. I have had 4 different contractors in here they have said his work is subpar and they would not have paid him. To this day, more specifically last night, we are still finding issues. We had a cob job under our sink that Jason out together. After 2 months of use our plumbing explodes and I see the sink wasn't even joined together st the joints. I am extremely unpleased with this man trying to play victim and claim that his work is good.
Regards,
[redacted]

The matter in question was a small remodel job which was referred to me by the Complainant's mother-in-law for whom I have done work for in the past. When visiting the job site with client for the first time, my gut instinct was to not take the job. The job was a 35 minute drive and the client had...

no idea of what they were in for as the house in question was purchased by the [redacted]s late in 2017 and originally built as a hunting cabin. The property needed much more work than they were aware of. I agreed to do the kitchen remodel for the sake of helping them get the property in a state close to what they needed to move in. I was offered the assistance of Mr. [redacted] to do whatever he could to help to keep the cost to a minimum. There was no written contract and no deposit was taken in advance of work commencing. The homeowner was given invoices for time spent working on their project. The invoices were paid after the work was performed. Unfortunately, the homeowner apparently felt that because I was there working on the kitchen, he could add any additional work he requested and it would be included in our original discussions. As to his questioning the quality of work performed: He was asked on several occasions to clearly mark in pencil the visual aspects of the drywall he was referring to so the painter could see and fix any issues. As you know, lighting reflects differently at various times of the day and night, so issues that are noticeable in the evening aren't necessarily visible in the daylight. He failed to mark the wall as requested and repeatedly contacted me about the issue. He was advised to speak with the painter directly or clearly mark the walls and I would discuss it with the painter. I recommended the painter to the homeowner, but he does not work for me. The homeowner did finally meet with the painter to discuss the issue and repairs were made to his satisfaction. The work he is referring to as not being finished would have been the extra work that he kept adding on which again was not part of the initial agreement. For example the drywall section above the cabinet which he is stating is unfinished, would not be finished because his wife decided she would like a backsplash. Therefore, the drywall would not need to be finished as it was to be covered up with the backsplash tile that the homeowner's wife purchased. Again the completion of the backsplash was not part of our initial discussions. As far as any work that I did, "not being up to code", I challenge Mr. [redacted] to call his local code officer and have him inspect and submit in writing to me any issues on the work that I performed. I would then be happy to repair at my expense anything that he finds not up to code which was part of the work that I performed.I would also like to point out the harassment to me through [redacted] postings using my contact information offering free stuff that didn't exist, countless calls from colleges and military recruiters stating that I requested information via the internet. Although he denies the allegations, after being advised that a subpoena could be obtained that would require the companies to release the information of the postings, that harassment ceased. Most recently he posted on Face book and [redacted] making derogatory claims about the quality of my work.As said, I would be happy to repair any unsafe or non-code compliant work which I performed. But I again stress the fact that I was only paid for time that I put into project and our difference in opinions is what lead to my no longer being involved in his ongoing project. Also, given the harassment by Mr. [redacted] since I left project, I will never deal directly with him again.Sincerely,Jason Rorie
