Jay the Builders

Review: We are writing to complain about the poor service I received from my building contractor "Jay the Builder" (registered with the Revdex.com as "Jay the Builders"). We hired this firm to design a room addition on our home, and showed their representative a photo of the kind of room we wanted (about 180 qf). The representative estimated the addition might cost $20,000 to $30,000, so we proceeded with the design phase and paid the $5,600 design fee. Once the design was completed, the builder said it would cost $69,000, even though the permit paperwork they had filed with the city said the value of the room was $20,000. Had we suspected that the price would be so high, we never would have proceeded with the design. We asked the builder to modify the project's design to meet their original estimate, but they said that wasn't possible.Desired Settlement: We are hoping to have your help in getting the contractor to redesign the project to meet the original cost estimate. If they refuse to redesign the project, we request your help in getting the design fee refunded.
