ID Complaint [redacted]

On 6/15/2015 we explained our prodcedures that we would need to first look at the vehicle. Customer would need to drop off the vehicle for at least one day. Customer then demanded that she needed to wait with the vehicle.  We explained with the tpye...

of issue it could take many hours of diagnosis with special equipment could not be done on a waiting appointment.Customer refused to listen to options available to her, for us to verify if this was a warranty issue. Unfortunately, customer feels entitled to special treatment for a one time repair almost a year ago. We have done everything to accomadate customer to resolve this issue.
Sincerly,
Jay's Auto Deal's On Wheel, LLC

In response to this complaint, we would like to state that everything that was done was according to state law and state rate. [redacted] stated that he did not have full coverage insurance on his vehicle, so insurance would not cover the tow; meaning [redacted] would have to pay the...

tow bill out of pocket. [redacted] insisted that he would like to work on his truck on our property which we told him he could not do due to insurance and liability. He then insisted that we would give him a ride home, which we declined because of weather conditions; which is the same reason we would not bring the vehicle to his home at the time of the initial pickup. The next day, [redacted] attempted to have his vehicle towed out of our facility by calling another towing company, which would not take the vehicle until the initial tow bill was paid in full. The amount that [redacted] was charged was in accordance to state rate. If [redacted] has a problem with the towing bill, he can make a complaint towards the [redacted] who enforces these rates.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:  the dispute is not about the rate.  Why did he insist on taking the truck to his facility where my house is about the same distance?  I asked the driver to drop my truck off at the commuter lot for me to detach the plow and drive the truck home but he declined after a call to the boss (that was before he finds out that I don't have full coverage insurance).  Why did he offer to fix the truck and declined after he found out that I don't have full coverage insurance?  Is that ethical?  Why did he insist on locking the truck for the night where I could have called my insurance company to bring it home for me usually in 30 minutes?  Does the state law requires him to hold the truck hostage until he makes some money either from repair if I have insurance or from an overnight storage if I don't?  I don't think he is living in our state. The only comment I have about the rate, is that I pay less than that when I stay at the 5 start hotel.   But regardless of the rate; I paid what he asked for with no negotiation.  Sincerely,[redacted]

Review: I got in accident on the night of 2/9/15, the day we had 12 inches of snow. There was an off duty cup riding behind me and he called in the accident right away. The cup asked me if the truck is operating. It seemed operable except that the plow was broken and won’t lift off the ground. The cup said that you can’t use your insurance road side assistance if you don’t have [redacted]. They called Jay’s Auto in [redacted]. The guy showed up and loaded the truck. After loading the truck he called his boss and the boss told him to bring the truck to their shop instead of my house, although my house is about the same exact distance. When I got there, the boss told me to leave it here and he can fix it tomorrow if I have insurance. I told him no, I don’t have full coverage. I will fix it myself. He said ok, we have to store it until tomorrow morning and send your tow truck to pick it up. I told him I can drive it home if we remove the plow off of the truck. He said no, you can’t work on it here. I told him drop it off across the street, he said no. Then, he emphatically asked the truck drive to store it in a locked facility next door. I asked him about who is going give me a ride home; he said that is not his responsibility. We exchanged a few words and he asked me to get off the property. I called a friend of mine to pick me up and waited on the side walk for 30 minutes. The next day I called him and asked him if he can drop off the truck at my house for a fee. He said no, you have to send in your own tow company. I called a tow company and hired them to bring the truck home. The guy I hired went over there and he told him there is a balance on the truck of $238.22 that has to be paid first. I asked the guy to let me talk to him. [redacted] said that I have to call him on his business phone. I called him on his business phone and he said I have to come in, prove that I own the car, and pay the money in cash. I told him I will be there in 15 minutes. Meanwhile the guy I hired left and I had to call him back. I went in and paid the balance and gave him a copy of my license and truck registration. I also apologized to him for some harsh words I said to him the night before. Meanwhile the guy I hired went back and picked up the truck and dropped it off around 2:30 PM. He charged me $232.64 in cash as well. So to move my truck 3 miles from the scene of the breakdown to my house cost me about $500.00; a trip that my insurance company charges me $50 for.Desired Settlement: 1. Why was having an insurance matter to the service that he provides? 2. Why would he take my truck hostage and force his own rules and try to extort money and services for having it there? 3. Why was he a [redacted] to someone that just got out of an accident and on a night where we have 12 inches of snow and temperature below freezing?

Review: My 09 [redacted] was repaired back in August 2014, by Jay's Auto and we were told it was the catalyic convert air filter sensor that was repaired and we paid almost 1200!. Several months later in April 15 the SAME EXACT issues resurfaced. I made a call to the shop, as online it says their repairs are guaranteed for 2 yrs, however [redacted] (who didnt even care to check into the file itself) stated we had a year. When I asked to have the vehicle inspected TIMELY he became very combative and arrogant, stating "he's to busy for this" and that my husband, who has a FT time would need to be inconvienced by having to rent car, as [redacted] needs his car to sit ALL day to inspected, not to the mention he hung up the phoe on me! In past dealings with other shops I have NEVER been given this lackluster customer service, esp when he could have done faulty work on the car. I want my car to be inspected timely, and customer service given, as I just need my car to be fixed properly!!!Desired Settlement: I want my car inspected timely, as this same accomdation was made prior to the shop fixing our at this shop. And I want my car to be repaired correctly, and if something faulty was done Jay's Auto needs to be fix or pay for it to be fixed elsewhere!

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: When the repairs were completed it was the same way I am requesting at this time. I advised that I was unable to leave my vehicle with him for an entire day as my husband as job, and that was fine. The inspection was complete within hours of the car being there. I contacted this shop on a Monday asking for my vehicle to be looked at on a Thursday, I asked if we could work together to get a time to bring the car in, and that also was denied. This shop has NOT done anything to accomdate me, they have done everything to accomdate themselves!. I paid almost 1200 dollars for a repair that shoud be having issues 9-10 months later, this is far from personal (as [redacted] is making and taking this). I have never been talked to or treated in this manner ever after paying for a service. Asking for my car to be looked out in a 4 hour window which is beyond reasonable, when it took less than 2 hours the first time. When you perform work that may be faulty you should be making every concession to potentially make things right. I am asking for some form of customer service from this lackluster business, I do not want this to go any further.

Sincerely,

Consumer

Response:

Quoting [redacted] this matter has been resolved the husband came in and apoligized for his wifes behavior so we checked the car out for free and as we originally thought there was no issue with the work we had previously done thank you [redacted]
