Jay's Auto Repair Reviews (3)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I have a new telephone number. It is ###-###-####. I have gotten no messages from Jay. Again, we had authorized $200 for REPAIRS. Not for checking to see what was wrong. $200 for repairs. I would be willing to pay the $50 for the inspection. That is all I feel we should pay. Nothing at all was repaired. We had to immediately take it somewhere else. The starting issue was worse than when we brought it in. Very disappointing. There are signs up in Jays quoting the prices for an inspection.  No Where does it say we charge $200 to inspect your car only to make it more unsafe when you leave. This car was brought in for a STARTING issue. It wasn't fixed. Bottom line is that many other "inspections " were done, and the starting issue was not fixed. We did not authorize everything else to be done! We authorized $200 to REPAIR the starting issue. That is the bottom line. We were taken by some shady business practices. We would be willing to settle for a refund to the card of the full amount, minus the $50 inspection fee.
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]
Regards,
[redacted]

The phone number that was called was the number listed in the complaint and that the shop has on file for her. As to the inspection or diagnostics, there is a difference between inspecting and diagnosing. The problems with this vehicle could not be determined with a simple FREE inspection.Diagnostics were needed to be performed in order to find out what needed to be repaired. This was clearly explained to her when the vehicle was dropped off. The vehicle was taken from the shop with repairs not completed because the customer refused to authorize the repair, not because we couldn't or didn't repair it. This doesn't appear to be a problem with our business practice, but most likely a problem between a customer and an employee. It is my understanding that Ms. [redacted] had an issue with this employee when he was working at a different service garage in the past. If Ms. [redacted] would have come to me first, I would have taken action to resolve this immediately. Her attempt to discredit the business and cause thousands of dollars of damage by posting damaging claims on social media and posting negative reviews about the company is completely unfair and unnecessary. If Ms. [redacted] doesn't see the value in the work we perform, I will gladly refund her money in exchange for retraction or repair of these reviews and comments.Good communication is the key to getting good results. I welcome a face to face meeting with Ms. [redacted]. She only needs to call and make an appointment with me.

Review: My daughter and I brought her Chevy Equinox for repairs for an issue with the car not wanting to start all the time. They had said it could be a problem with the ignition coil. Or plugs plug wires. I told them I can replace the plugs, plug wires, and pcv valve myself. [redacted] said they would check it out. He said "How much do you authorize for repairs before we call you? " My daughter, Isabel and I agreed tjat if repairs were going to be more than $200, then they would need to call. As it turns out, we got charged $200 just for them to do some comprehensive exam. Which said we needed all kinds of stuff repaired. We didn't ASK for that! We just brought it in for the starting issue repair! Most vehicle repair places offer free inspection/diagnostics. $200 just to tell us what still needs to be done? Unacceptable.Desired Settlement: I think a full refund is in order. This is very deceptive business practice! When you ask a client how much they authorized for repairs before being called...it should be for repairs! If inspection isn't covered under the repair costs, that needs to be told to the customers.

Response:

I have been trying to reach [redacted] for the past week and have left messages for her to call me so we could discuss what happened and try to come to a resolution, but she has not accepted my calls or returned them.
