Had new bathroom vanity tops put in both of our bathrooms in April. My husband and I were extremely pleased with the outcome. The two gentlemen were professional, thorough and pleasant the entire time they were doing the job. I would highly recommend Merchant's. They were tops as far as we were concerned.
I would not hesitate to use them further.

Contractor was paid in full. He left with many repair issues outstanding , has been back 4 times and none of the repairs has been completed.
In August of 2018 I hired Mr. to remodel my home. During discussion of work to be done I advised Mr. that we would be occupying the home during remodel. I also stated that the work hours would need to be between 7AM and 3PM Monday through Friday as to accommodate my husband's work schedule. The agreed upon services would include:
Paint all interior rooms, ceiling and trim
Replace floors on stairs and entire 2nd and den on first floor, except bathrooms and closets.
Replace countertops in 3 bathrooms and kitchen, add deeper tub in guest bath and remove glass door in shower.
*** agreed to supply a dumpster for various trash and to be here daily to check on progress.
Mr. was advised that work needed to be completed no later than October 3, 2018.Mr. agreed to terms and we settled on a price of approximately 21, 7000. I gave Mr. a deposit of 13, 000. Work began the first week of September.
The first day 2 painters arrived to begin work, I gave them paint colors and they proceeded to paint the first floor. I did not see Mr. that day. The following days a gentleman who I was unable to communicate with arrived alone. Again, I did not see Mr. to communicate my concerns that the painting was not being done in a professional manner. The painter was not removing blinds or covering furniture or taping door handles, hinges etc. At this time the people came to put in sinks and new countertops. The painter was instructed to put in new faucets, they were not hooked up correctly no hot water and then hot from cold spigot and cold from hot. This has still not been fixed in MB shower after 4 months and several visits by someone from Merchant to rectify problem. The painter of which there were never the same two from day to day and who I had to advise them each time of what work needed to be done. When I asked if *** had told them which colors went where and about taping and covering furniture and that the hours were 7-3, I was told no.
I was notified by *** that they had switched the colors of the first floor and second, I agreed to leave it as is because at this time the tile people and flooring people were also working. Again, they were not notified of the hours. The flooring people arrived at various times of the day because as they told me they had other jobs the gentlemen in charge of the floor work had his main employment with *** and came to my home when he was finished with his real job. The floor people asked if they could come nights and weekends and I agreed because we were falling behind on time. They never showed up for the days agreed to and sometimes were not here for several days.
The gentlemen doing the tile work and tub replacement also had other jobs and would arrive at various times and skipping several days. They also told me *** had never advised them of the hours. They cut a hole in the bedroom next to the guest bath and then spent a week trying to get the water to work in the tub/shower without success. A professional plumber had to be called out eventually. The wall was left open for weeks. I finally saw Mr., the day they supposedly finished the work (first time since they started.
On the last day they were in my home, one of the tile guys dropped tile on my newly installed floors and damaged it. To date they have been back 4 times to correct paint, tile, floors (pictures attached) and none of it has been completed, and they have not after 4 visits been able to get grey paint off my white trim.
The tile they used was cement based and was not sealed...it is cracking, there are holes where the caulk has completely fallen out and water is getting in this is in all 3 bathrooms and kitchen. There are numerous chipped tiles throughout.
The floor trim is uneven with large gaps. There is brown stain from floors on walls and paint on my floors. (Pictures enclosed).
The area above the shower was replastered and is uneven and lumpy

Many of ***'s comments are incorrect regarding my time at the job site, my communication with the men regarding work day times, etc. However, I don't thing that argument is necessary. The issue here is that all the agreed work was done, although as she states, it does need cosmetic touch-ups. I had agreed with her to come back one more time from January 10 - 13 and oversee all needed touch-ups. But that stalled when she rejected my offer of a $1000 refund versus her request of $3500 for "damages" Where the $18000 comes from is not even on the map. If she had allowed us to return a few days ago and accepted my offer, this issue would be behind us. As I told her on my last email, which I have if you need to see it, is that my offer was still on the table. She has rejected it and here we are. There are no structural issues here. All issues are cosmetic. Thank you.

I have given Mr. many opportunities to correct the issues, he has known about the floor and tile since the day they left on October 3rd, yet he only sent a painter to touch up paint and they didn't do even that small thing. I have emails and photos to sub stantiate my claims. My husband or I we're here every day the work was being done...Mr. was not. The wall behind my tile was not waterproofed nor was the tile sealed, my floor as well as baseboards will have to be repaired or replaced, I have photos.I no longer have any confidence that he will do the job required. I am happy to pay for the materials...but not the labor or his overhead.
That is where the $18,000. Comes from. I have a *** contracts estimate to repair everything...including taking down the tile,
Waterproofing the wall replacing new tile and sealing it.This does not yet include taking out baseboard, replacement and various painting.

Mr *** and his crew have been at my home 4 times and not resolve even so much as paint issues. His comments that these are only cosmetic issues is exactly why I do not yrutr h to make repairs. Every time we shower more of the tile caulk falls out. He has no idea what is going on behind my walls, which were not waterproofed, or sealed
All the tile will have to be removed and the walls waterproofed new tile purchased and put up. Besides the cost...it will be messy and inconvenient. $1000.00 is ridiculous. I have not heard a reasonable offer from him.I have photos that I'm happy to submit .

I really don't think emails going back and forth are going to resolve anything until and unless *** accepts and agrees to us coming back, as she had previously agreed to, and resolving these cosmetic details. My offer still stands. If she is not willing to accept anything short of $18000, we have nothing to talk about.
