J.B. Oriental Massage

Review: My wife and I received three gift certificates from this business that were purchased Dec 7 2011. We received these as gifts for Christmas that year. The certificates were for (1) Once hour massage (2) One and a half hour massage (3) Thirty minuet foot massage. On these certificates they are laid out as follows: The top header says Gift Certificate and in rows under that are lines to be filled out that say To:, From:, Amount:, a price box, Authorized Signature:, Date, then at the bottom it has the information J.B. Oriental 3031 Foothills Blvd.,#150, Roseville CA 95747 Tel: (916) 780-3303. Now nowhere on this certificate is there an expiration date and the person we received the certificates from told us also there was no expiration date. Me and my wife had forgotten all about the gifts until we found them in a drawer, so today 12-30-2013 we paid a babysitter $60 to watch our two children so that we could go and use our gift certificates. When we walked into the business we were approached by what I assume was an employee, so I handed her the certificates and told her we wanted to use them. From there she proceeded to tell me that said certificates were expired and that they only last six months after date of purchase. So at this point I pointed out to her that nowhere on the certificate was there an expiration date nor was there any sign posted with such rule. After I pointed this out she began to just tell me she was sorry repeatedly and tell me she would talk to her boss(who was not there) and they would call me. This was not good enough for me, the amount of the certificates total is $120 plus the $60 I spent on the sitter, not ok. And when I told her that I was basically being told that I paid them $120 for services that I was not going to be receiving all she said was sorry. Im no lawyer but I would think that if there is no date of expiration shown on the certificate then that would mean they do not expire. Because if they had a date I would have used them. Im furious and want this fixed. Desired Settlement: After the terrible service and basic blowoff I received from the employee at the business. There is NO way I would want to receive a massage from them. I can only assume that they would do a sub par job and be rude and make it a terrible experience during something that is supposed to be relaxing. I would like to have the amount of the certificates refunded, and to be honest at this point getting the gas I wasted driving there and the $60 I had to pay a babysitter for no reason doesn't seem wrong
