*** ** *** ***floors were completed at the end of April along with several other projects at *** *** ***It is unfortunate what happened but as far as any testing goes no floor refinisher normally does any type of testingThis house already originally had hardwood
floors and they were refinish so there would be no reason to test, sometimes testing is done before new hardwood floors are installed. The Job was it 203K loan with a limited budget for a lot of projects and there was not any allowance or any discussion of having any type of testing done for humidityMy subcontractor finish the hardwood floors and there was a final walk-through with the homeowner and the loan officer from the bank.Sometime between the end of April and the first week in June there was humidity problem causing the floors as swell, apparently they didn't move in as they plan and the homeowner was still working on things leaving the house on occupy and closed up ,No windows open or any air on .Therefore some humidity build up causing the floors swelling , pushing the uncured polly that fell in between the cracks of the open spaces in the floor up to the surface , not a problem caused by my subcontractor even though he was willing to go back and address the problem. And I had talked to three flooring guys ,two which actually went out and saw the job and said that they would refinish it at a cost of $but could not guarantee that this problem would not happen agin This problem is a rare occurrence I do Feel bad for the customer it is unfortunate but I don't feel that my subcontractor should be on the hook for this or should I ,and the other flooring contractors agreedIt like blaming a painter that the paint is blistering on the ceiling because there was a leak in the roof

I am rejecting this response because:
I do not feel that the contractor has made a honest effort to investigate the problem and have an open dialogue with us to find a resolutionHe was first contacted about problem on 5/After several calls, he responded by text msg on 6/and continued to communicate only by textHe has only answered my calls once and his first visit to house to look into problem was on 6-
His assumption that there was a moisture problem is speculation since he did not visit house during the time period that the problem was occurringI believe that the time this was occurring corresponded with the increase in humidity of spring and the floor boards swelling from this seasonal changeHis assumption that house was closed up and unoccupied is also falseI am working on renovating house- this means that I am there at least every other day for plus hours, windows are opened and air is ran when neededWhen this problem first started, even more effort was made to air out house.( the poly squeeze out occurred slowly for 4-weeks)
I also have had several flooring contractors look at the floorsAll have said that this condition is a result of installer error, a combination of improper drying times for the type of stain used and applying too heavy a coatAll said that they saw no signs of a humidity problem from basement( floorboards would show cupping)Also, all commented on the unusually strong solvent odor in the house, they suspect it is from the stain not having enough dry time and being trapped under finish The flooring subcontractor sanded, stained and polyurethaned the floors all on the same day, this occurred twice during the floor refinishing, because of bad workmanshipOil based stains, which the subcontractor used, require at least hours to dry, more for darker colorsThe majority of the squeezout is stain colored, not clearAfter discussing this problem with flooring professionals and nwfa inspectors I still feel that the subcontractor is at fault.
