Daniel Pinto and his business, JC Union Millwork & Design in Jersey City, NJ – dishonest and unethical. Pinto delivers work that is suboptimal, not durable and poorly crafted. He does not take responsibility for the quality of his work.

We contracted Daniel Pinto to craft an exterior door. Only 2 days after installation, the door began to expand and deteriorate to the point where the door could not open or close in the existing frame. Thirty days after initial installation, the upper portion of the door split wide open and the door needed to be completely replaced.

Daniel himself, initially acknowledged that the material used for the door was not appropriate for exterior use and that he would replace it and take care of the issue.

Then, his story began to change. He did not return our phone calls. He only responded via text and delayed his responses over many weeks. He claimed various circumstances for not being able to come to complete/repair the job. He initially said the company he ordered the door from sent him the wrong door. Then weeks later he changed his mind and wrote to say it was because we did not shovel the snow on our stairs and that is why the door deteriorated - therefore he was not responsible. An exterior door should weather the elements and not begin to deteriorate only a few days after installation.

We have since replaced the door with a more reputable and trustworthy contractor for equivalent cost and have not had any issues.

Several contractors we have worked with, one of whom is a member of the Jersey City Historic Commission, along with the presiding judge in small claims court inspected the door that Daniel Pinto installed and concur that he and his business delivered defective merchandise and that the main issue with his door was poor judgment in choice of material, poor craftsmanship, and/or failure to apply the appropriate protective finishes on the door. Despite a judgment against him, he has not to date reimbursed us.

Poor quality of his work and his poor craftsmanship aside, his dishonesty and unethical business practices are disappointing. Individuals and businesses in Jersey City – Beware!
