We are in receipt of the complaint you sent from Ms*** *** ***Ms*** sat for the Slit Lamp portion of the National Optician’s Practical Examination on July 29, 2017, at a Pearson VUE testing in FloridaPearson VUE is the testing company that NCSORB contracts with to administer
this examination in those states that use it for licensureShe did not pass this portion of the examination, and continues to claim the fault lies in the examination Following protocol, Pearson VUE was contacted to review the Incident Report resulting from the candidate’s complaintPearson VUE reported that technically there were no issues with Ms***’ examinationThis information was provided to Ms***, but she did not accept the answer She reports in the complaint that she was only able to speak with one person, and there was no way to escalate it to anyone elseIn fact, Ms*** spoke with numerous people in our organization, including the Executive Director, who she spoke with three timesAdditionally, we received notice from her credit card company that she has requested a stop payment on the examination fee charged even though she has already taken the examination I assure you that we have looked into the situation thoroughlyThe National Optician’s Practical Examination is used by Florida to determine if the individual has the knowledge, skills, and abilities required by the state to become a licensed optician We wish Ms*** the best in her efforts to become a licensed optician in the State of FloridaIf I can be of any further assistance or answer any additional question, please do not hesitate to contact me Best Regards, Wade *** Executive Director
