I sold Mr. [redacted] a very nice black 2007 Yukon Denali. I personally put 1000 miles on this vehicle before it was even listed for sale. It was in excellent mechanical condition, even though it had 169k miles on it. At the time of sale, I pointed out a few cosmetic issues such as a tire...

pressure light on the dash, and the air suspension light since it has aftermarket shocks on it. The vehicle had not been safety inspected yet, so I told Mr. [redacted] that I would get it inspected the next day, and he could come back and get it. He wanted to take it home that night, so I gave him a written guarantee stating that if there were any major issues found, I would take care of them. After a couple weeks, he called me complaining that one of the tires had a slow leak, and that the oil pressure sensor was causing the gauge on the dash to act up. I went out of my way, drove an hour, met up with him, picked up the tire, and fixed it. All it needed was a new valve stem. Simple cosmetic fix that any tire shop could have taken care of, but he was convinced that the rim itself was bad. As for the oil pressure sensor, I paid for the part, and paid for the labor to have it fixed. Mr. [redacted] told me that it failed inspection and emissions testing because of the oil pressure sensor, so I took responsibility and pulled money out of my wallet and paid for it. I them come to find out that he had licensed the vehicle in Illinois, which doesn't require emissions or inspection at the time of licensing. So he lied to me to get me to pay for these repairs, which I was fine with, but I would have preferred him to just be truthful. He was pretty unhappy from the beginning, so I offered to buy it back after a month or so, he declined. Fast forward, about 75 days went by. Then he called me on Memorial Day about 5 times until I answered. I was with my family, and he immediately started yelling at me and giving me an attitude because one of the door handles came off (15 bucks for a replacement if needed), and wanted me to refund his money AND HIS SALES TAX THAT HE PAID TO THE STATE. Seriously Mr. [redacted]? Tell me where you can buy a used vehicle with 169k miles, drive it for 2.5 months, and return it for a full refund including sales tax.  Here's the deal, I am a small business owner. I am fair with every customer. I do my best to make sure everyone is satisfied. I wouldn't be in business still if I didn't take care of my customers. I can go on and on about how hard this customer was to deal with. I gave him a great price on the Denali, thousands under book value.  He never experienced any major issues with the vehicle, and it never left him stranded. This guy is complaining about some very very minor cosmetic flaws that can be found on just about any used vehicle. I wish he appreciated the fact that he got a good deal on it. Again, the vehicle never broke down, never had any mechanical issues, and never left him stranded. I am not going to buy it back after he's had it for 3 months now. If he would have asked me within the first 30 days, I would have considered it. He has a good looking, good running, reliable Yukon Denali. If he wants to get rid of it, he can easily list it for sale, and get his money back out of it, since I sold it to him below private party value.
