Tell us why here...This complaint requires further investigation on our part, which we are in the process of doing at this time

We have offered the customer an opportunity to go to arbitration and have a third party decide what the settlement should be Arbitration is the best option to settle this dispute

Tell us why here...All of the *** issuses are being addressed, Their "missing" items have been deliveredAn insurance claim has been submitted to our insurance company and we are waiting for an adjuster's inspection

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  I've went through arbitration already with them that's why I filed a compliant with you against them.  After being rejected by them because they claim that my furniture was being stored in a storage shed and had to go to another arbitrator for them to provide me made up (phony) paper work and forged my signature, I believe ethical/truth doesn't run with this company.  With that said, I want to hear the offer directly from JD Carton management and not waste my time with lies and really believe their sincerity.  I really want my property returned and my damaged furniture repaired or replaced. They know they are in the wrong and lying further won't get them any where.  If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask...... Sincerely, [redacted]

Tell us why here...We reviewed the file and have refunded The Staggards $630.00.

The shipment delivered to mini-stg., and claim filed for missing items, and no such evidence at time of delivery.  [redacted]s responded twice the inquiry and claim via the attached and referred consumer to arbitration.  This was after [redacted]s and JD Carton 2nd review and...

trace for the claimed missing items. We have completely reviewed the complaint and also have reviewed the submitted claim form. According to our shipping documents, and review, we do not show where JD Carton & Son or [redacted]s has misguided the consumer regarding the shipping, handling, or storing of the shipment.  There was a claim form filed for missing items by the consumer and search completed for set items. We were unable to locate the items based upon our search with all crew members, and other customer's that shared the same truck as the consumer.   The claim forms along with copies of the settlement have been attached for your review.  We have verified that we have settled the consumer’s claim accordingly based upon the rules and regulations set forth within our tariff. Based upon our findings and review we consider the matter resolved and to be settled via arbitration.

I am rejecting this response because: I am rejecting this response because: I am supplying both check off sheets and you can see they forged my signature and they created their own check off sheet and if you compare the two sheets you will see a string of numbers checked off on both sheets how could that have happened if they didn't lie and create a bogus check off sheet?  There is no quality assurance or review of their work and they accept anything from their drivers to avoid telling the truth. Look at the pictures of the boxes damaged on my delivery date and see the date stamp of the pictures before it went into a self storage my property was damaged when they lost the second truck with my property in it.

Review: JD Carton moved the contents of our house into storage for almost a year. When they moved our furniture out of storage into our new home, we found that many of our antiques and irreplaceable heirlooms had been extremely damaged. When we had our contents moved into storage a salesman was sent to our home to give us an estimate and talk to us about insurance options. We selected the proper insurance for the value of our property for the move and for the period our property would be in their storage facility. We were charged for the insurance for the move and charged a monthly insurance fee. When we called to schedule a move out of storage, the salesman gave us an estimate over the phone and made no mention of needing to meet with us to discuss insurance or the estimate or to sign any papers. When we saw how damaged many of our items were coming off the truck we were completely shocked at the extent of their negligence and carelessness. We filed a claim with them immediately and they told us we did not have insurance and they would give us $500 for the damage. I wrote a letter to one of the owners of the company to discuss the problem and did not even receive the courtesy of a form letter in return. In the meantime we have gathered up paperwork that proves we had insurance, and have received an estimate of their damage. The estimate to repair their damage is several thousand dollars. I consulted a lawyer and was told that I needed to file a claim with the insurance company that was responsible for the move into storage and during storage. When I contacted Matt in their claims about this he said they could not file an insurance claim because we did not purchase insurance. He is telling me this as I'm staring right at the paperwork that proves we bought insurance. Apparently Matt is trained to tell all customers this without checking the facts. Not only is this company completely negligent, they bully their clients with verbal abuse. Their customer reviews verify this.Desired Settlement: To admit the wrongdoing, and abusive behavior of their salesman [redacted]. To admit they were negligent in their treatment of our property, and to admit they lied to us about not having insurance. To reimburse us for the full amount it costs to repair the damage they did to our furnishings.

Response:

Customer had items damaged during move. Customer filed claim and after review a settlement was sent to them in October of 2013. Customer was contacted via email as well as USPS. Customer never responded to either.

I am rejecting this response because: JD Carton did not settle any claim. They offered me $500 for over $5,000 worth of damage to our irreplaceable antiques and heirlooms. Please refer to my original complaint regarding their treatment of us and our property - nothing has changed.

Response:

This is our final response on this matter. Customer's items were unfortunately damaged. They had basic coverage at $.60 per pound per article. As a result attempts were made to settle with customer for what they are rightfully entitled too. No response has ever been received by our company outside of this forum. We will honor the valuation and send customer what they are due. We need customer to return documents verifying approval of settlement.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

I absolutely did respond with several emails including two to John Carton who did not even have the courtesy of responding at all. I did have insurance which is explained in the emails I sent. We purchased insurance when they moved our items into storage and paid for insurance while they were in storage for a year. We were never visited by [redacted] so that he could give us a proper written quote, nor were we given the option to select insurance. I had a 5 minute conversation with him on the phone when he gave me a quote (again, without taking the time to visit us to see the scope of the work), and then when on the day of the move he decided that the quote was too low (again, because he would not take the time to visit us to see the scope of work), and verbally abused my husband and me because he did not quote us properly (AGAIN, HE DID NOT TAKE THE TIME TO VISIT US TO SEE THE SCOPE OF WORK AND THEN HAD THE NERVE TO VERBALLY ABUSE OF BECAUSE OF HIS NEGLIGENCE). Nothing was ever put in writing and no options were ever explained to me so I assumed they were applying the same insurance we had already purchased to the move out of storage. Besides, I have written proof that we were insured the day of the move from our storage insurance and it looks like most of the damage was done on the move into storage anyway. It is appalling that we would be initially tossed to the side by their salesman Mr. [redacted] and not given a moment of his time, and then we are abused by Mr. [redacted] when his quote was off, and then our irreplaceable antiques and heirlooms are ruined when we trusted this company with them, and then we are ignored by the company and told they are not responsible for any of this damage.

According to the endless number of terrible online reviews for JD Carton, they often do this to their customers.

Review: I hired JD Carton to manage the move from my old home to my new construction home.

My new home wasn’t going to be ready on time so it was necessary to put our possessions in storage for a period of approximately three months. All items appeared to be tagged and inventoried as they were being put on the truck to be moved to their storage facility. When it came time for the second phase of the move problems began. When the items were being removed from the truck no one was checking off the items versus the original inventory. We started noticing boxes coming off the truck that were damaged and resealed. All my items were heavily damaged, including glass tables, my bedroom furniture, office desk and my son bedroom furniture plus other items are beyond repair. My couch and other items are missing. The movers also did extensive damage to my new construction home. We were completely stunned at the extent of their disregard and sloppiness of work.Desired Settlement: We would like all of our missing items, and to be fully compensated for the damaged to the home and the broken items. I want my builder will repair the home because it is brand new NOT anyone JD Carton chooses to hire

Review: I utilized the company to move our belongings from one home to storage and then to our new house. I purchased an insurance policy on my belongings in the event of damage or loss. Several items were damaged beyond repair as well as items in my new home were damaged. I submitted a claim form pursuant to directions from the company in March 2015. I have been following up with the company at least once per week since the submission of the claim and no one has responded. I sent numerous emails, left voice mail messages and tried to get help from the receptionist all to no avail.Desired Settlement: I expect to receive payment for the items that were destroyed or at the very least I need a refund of the insurance policy I purchased since they are not submitting a claim.

Review: The negligence and carelessness in packing and moving by JD Carton & Sons caused 2 broken glass shelves, a damaged antique table, scratches on dining room chairs and a crack in an antiques headboard.

1. The glass shelves from our corner cabinets were improperly packed by JD Carton packers. Edges of glass should have been soft cushioned, but the packers from JD Carton just wrapped them with paper, hence breakage is most likely and it happened. The packing was done with haste and without care. I have photos of the glass sticking out of an unopened box which I sent to JD Carton claims manager [redacted].

2. The antique table was damaged at the time of delivery by one of their movers. I also noticed scratches on some of my dining room chairs and a crack in an antique bed frame.

The damage is not accidental, but directly resulting from the way the services were rendered- JUST PURE CARELESSNESS & WITHOUT REGARD TO OUR PROPERTY.Desired Settlement: Issue credit for the cost of damages.

Customer had items damaged during move and never filed a claim with us. Customer sent estimates which exceed the basic valuation option they chose. We are willing to settle under the terms of their agreement once they file the proper claim paperwork.

Review: I contracted JD Carton to manage the move from my home in [redacted] to my new home in [redacted] Due to the timing of the closing date for my new home, it was necessary to put my belongings in storage for a period of approximately one month. The first phase of the move occurred on June 27, when all of my belongings were picked up from my old home on [redacted] All items appeared to be tagged and inventoried as they were being put on the truck to be moved to their storage facility . No issues here.

I arranged for the second phase of the move to [redacted] for July 25. When the items were being removed from the truck no one was checking off the items versus the orignal inventory. Then I began noticing many boxes coming off the truck that were completely mutilated and re-taped. Several rather expensive items were heavily damaged, including a small end table, my snowblower and an outdoor patio table (beyond repair). Further several expensive items are missing including a 32 inch television, a Yamaha profession-series keyboard, a Delta bandsaw, and more. In total, there are also approximately 12 boxes missing which I have yet to reconcile in terms of contents.Desired Settlement: 1 - All missing items returned

2 - Compensation for the items that were damaged and destroyed

3- A letter of apology of this completely unprofessional service
