My wife and I contacted JD Custom Furniture to have a breakfast nook built. He came out and took measurements then returned on Mar 16, 2015 with the plans. We said go ahead and build the nook after giving him a check for $1270.56 as deposit. On his paperwork he has a note stating that delivery date can only be estimated (10 to 12 weeks). On July 7, 2015 I called and talked with him and he said they were behind and the nook was not finished but they were working on it. I told him that that was ok we were going on vacation and I would call him when we got back. On July 30,2015 I called him, and he said that it was completed and that they would deliver on Aug 7, 2015 and he would call on Aug 6th to set up a time. We have not received a call and we have received no response from the messages that we left on his answering machine. I went to the shop today (Aug 17, 2015)to contact him. His shop was locked up, lights on and his truck was there. No answer. His neighboring office said they could hear him working next door. It has been 23 weeks since we gave him the deposit.Product_Or_Service: Breakfast NookDesired SettlementFirst I would like to have the product delivered or our deposit returned.

JD E[redacted] collected deposits totaling over $3,400 on furniture he did not build for us. Further, he belatedly delivered two tables and a bookcase which required significant repairs to the stain and hardware and has not returned as he promised to repair them. These items were paid for by us, in full, totaling almost $10,000. He has held us up for months making promises he never kept and now it appears has no intention of keeping. In the beginning he positively committed to an 8-10 estimate for delivery but of the items we did receive delivered them in a 16-22 week timeframe. His follow-up was always negligent and now he claims no responsibility for the items that require repairs nor will he return our money for the items he never built. He represented himself as an upstanding member of the business community but we belatedly learned has no affiliation with any area business group e.g., [redacted] and the [redacted] Board has said he is in fact unlicensed.","neg-1

JD Custom Furniture failed to deliver on an order for custom built-ins in a timely manner and now will not refund deposit made in October 2013. On October 14, 2013, my husband and I ordered custom built-ins for around our fireplace and also a custom mantel. We gave JD a check for the down payment in the amount of $1301.50 which was promptly cashed. We were given an 8-10 week delivery time. By the first of December, we hadn't heard from JD so I called him and was told we might get the built-ins before Christmas. I called him again around Christmas and was told he now could not deliver until after the first of the year. And so goes the same old story, the job would be started soon or in two weeks. JD hardly ever returned any of our phone calls and when we did get in touch with him, there was never any commitment on his part to give a definite delivery date. So, on April 15, 2014 (7 months! after the initial order was placed) we sent JD a letter by certified return receipt stating that because of general non-performance and lack of communication on his part, we were cancelling our order and wanted our deposit back. We still received no response from JD. On April 30th, I went down to JD's place of business and happened to meet him in the parking lot. I told him I was there to get our deposit back. He said he did not have the money to pay us back because he had a lot of people owing him money. I told him I was highly disappointed at the way he does business and that I really didn't want to contact a lawyer. He suggested that I go through small claims court! He admitted that he was not very good at communicating and that he would look through his accounts and get back to us. As of this writing (now end of July 2014), we have still not heard a word from JD. We are very disappointed by JD's lack of communication, performance and general lack of concern about our job and returning our money and we would strongly caution potential customers about doing business with JD Custom Furniture or its affiliated companies. It should be noted that JD does not deny that he did not deliver product as promised and owes us a refund.Desired SettlementWe are seeking refund of our initial deposit of $1301.50.

At the recommendation of [redacted] of [redacted], we were referred to JD Custom Furniture. We ordered 1 Alder Queen Wall bed, 1 Alder Desk and 1 Alder Night Stand as per plan on October 9, 2014.This agreement was initiated with a deposit of $3,364.28 which was provided on this same date. At the time of agreement a verbal timeframe of 6 weeks was verbally told. The check was promptly cashed. As noted in the contract: Delivery Date can only be estimated (8 to 10 weeks), which would place the contract delivery estimate in a range from 1/6/2015 to 1/20/2015. The 6 week completion date would have been 12/22/2014. On this date there was no communication from him regarding the status of the order. As of 1/20/2015, no communication on status had occurred from the time of the initial meeting. On 1/20/2015, I initiated an email to [redacted] regarding the status of the furniture she was told it would be "finished next week. On 2/9/2015, I again initiated a status updated through [redacted] which resulted in an apology for the delay call from JD and a promise from him to her that the work would be done the following week. On 3/18/2015 I again contacted [redacted] letting her know that at 19 weeks into this I had reached the end of my rope. She contacted JD and it was after this call he finally contacted me on 3/19/2015. I told him I would prefer to cancel the order and get a refund at this point or a heavy discount. He called me completely ridiculous and said it would be finished on 3/25/2015 and he would just take me to court for whatever I did not pay him. As expected the furniture was not ready on 3/25/2015 but he did promise me a new date of 3/27/2015. 3/27/2015 JD shows up with 2 installers and multiple unassembled pieces of furniture. He stays around until 2:20 pm and then informs me that he will be back Monday since he needs to cut 2 pieces of wood down. He then asked me for payment in full for delivery. I refused to pay until furniture had been delivered, these were pieces of wood.Product_Or_Service: Custom built wall bed, desks and side tableAccount_Number: paper, no # referencDesired SettlementIdeally, I would like to have assembled, complete furniture and am happy to pay in full (even though I think a normal business would offer a discount for the delay). JD refused to come back until I had paid him in full and told me I was being unreasonable. I told him there would be nothing to guarantee that he ever came back and actually put the furniture together if I paid him in full. Keep in mind he already has 50% of the money. Please help me resolve this!Business Response I did enter an agreement on October 9th 2014 with [redacted] for an Alder Queen Wall Bed, Alder desk and Night Stand. The total price for this agreement was $7224.79. She was to pay the installers for the installation. Our agreement was that the estimated time for delivery was 8 to 10 weeks, not guaranteed to a definite date. Yes it took a little bit longer than I even planed, but I did deliver as promised. I never said in 6 weeks as she said. Custom built furniture is not made with computer run equipment, but with highly skilled cabinet makers. Materials are sometimes back ordered and out of state due to the closures of our suppliers in Nevada. On 3/27/2014 I delivered to their home all that was needed for the installers to make the installation. The installers started to install as soon the delivery was completed. They installed the two file cabinets and started to install the desk tops. At that point we found that 2 parts of the desk needed to be trimmed. We did not want to trim the tops with the saw at the job site because it would not make a clean cut and sliver the edge of the wood.So we loaded the truck to go to the shop, this was about 2:30pm. I talked to Mrs. [redacted] about the problem and that it would be too late to come back today. I told her we would return on Monday. At this time I asked her to give me the delivery payment as per our agreement. At that time she told me that she would not pay me until the job was completed. She also told me about 5 days before our delivery that she wanted 30% off at the end of the job. For this reason I insisted to be paid as per work order. So I told her when she gives me the delivery payment I would be back on the job. This morning 3/30/2015 her husband called me to see if we can come to some kind an agreement. We agreed to the following. I would give them $500.00 off the total price of the job. They were to email me a letter to pay the balance of the job on completion of installation. If they send the letter we will return to work on Wednesday the 1st of April to complete job.
