JD Machine Tech Inc Reviews (3)

Review: Month of October to November 2013 purchase a Mossberg 715T from out of State shipped to JD Macine Tech as the receiving FFL Dealer as required by law. Gun arrived and was contacted by JD employee at around 3:40pm and was told I had until 4:00pm to show up and provide proof that the gun was CA Compliant or it was getting shipped back to sending Dealer at 4:00pm same day. Their issue was the gun(a 22LR Rimfire) had a retractable stock and a removable magazine which they say was illegal in CA. Had to explain to them that 22lr Rimfires are not AW(assult Weapons) and that as long as the barrel was 16", the magazine 10rds or less and it does not have to have a bullet button, it was legal. Had Discount Gun Mart in San Diego explain that to JD so the gun was kept. Next Had a Sig 522 22LR with a manufacturer 16" and 20" barrels, folding stock shipped with the 16" barrel installed. Same scenario with JD when the gun arrived they said it was only 25" with the stock folded and it needed to be 26" to be CA legal. Again, they said it was getting shipped back same day as they could not keep it overnight. Explained to them it was a 22LR Rim fire. It is not a Assault Weapon so that 26" oal does not apply. I called DOJ and was told the 26" does not apply to Rim Fire rifles. A week later found out JD still had the Sig 522 and they said the DOJ was not clear on the 26"oal but up to the FFL Dealer discretion. I called DOJ again and was told by a different individual that it was up to the FFL Dealer to determine if the gun was modified or altered--which it was not since the manufacturer supplies 2 barrels options. It cost me return shipping and a 10% re-stocking fee. A 3rd gun arrived(GSG522 22LR Rim Fire) and they measured it 27" but it was shipped manufacturer sealed with the stock not attached. So they shipped it back to the sending dealer and cost me another return shipping and 10% re-stocking fee. November 21st spoke with the owner of JD Machine Tech and she informed me they will no longer handle my business as they did not have a AW license and unwilling to deal with the gray areas of the gun laws so they will complete the outstanding business(Mossberg 715T and a Lower Reciever) and move on. I informed her that they had accepted the transit of another 22LR (ISSC MK22) that was already in transit(shipped Nov 19th) and we should complete that then move on. They shipped back the ISSC MK22 when it arrived so now that is costing me another return shipping and 10% re-stocking fee.

I am surprised that JD Machine Tech had no glue as to the gun laws(regarding AW and Rim Fires)yet they are in the business of handling and transferring firearms. Secondly, they told me since the gun(Sig 522) was not CA Legal it could not stay overnight so they were sending it back only to find out they kept it for a week. Third, since there were no modifications to the 22LRs then they were legal. Fourth JD Machine Tech returning the last 22LR that was already in transit because they authorized its shipment then returned it at my cost is not acceptable. I was very surprised that JD Machine Tech gave the sending Dealer the go ahead to send the rifles in the first place and they had no idea what was being sent.

Overall, JD Machine have benefitted largely from my business because they are now better informed about the gun laws with respect to the 22LR Rim Fires..THEY ARE NOT ASSAULT WEAPONS. and the response should have been ,"Thank you for educating us". JD Machine Tech has cost me $225.00 for the three guns that were returned.Desired Settlement: I would like JD Machine Tech to refund me for the cost of return shipment and re-stocking fees in the amount of $225.00

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

The Company respopnse is a step in the right direction in resolving my complaint. The proposed actions by the company can be acceptable in fully resolving the issues. However, the proposed action/solutions are pending due to the Company new Ownership/Management changes that were to be effective Dec. 31st 2013.Was contacted today by a Company representative for more time as they try to complete the new management changes. JD Machine Tech and myself are currently communicating in resolving my complaint.I have chosen this option as the proposed resolutions by the company

resolved.Will keep you posted.Thank you.[redacted]

Review: Back in late January 2013 I purchased a lower reliever at the Orange County fair gun show. At the time of purchase I was told it would be 8 - 10 weeks lead time. After eight weeks passed I contacted JD machine and was then told it would be an additional 4 - 8 weeks. It was now July and I contacted them again and was now told that they are just starting the first week of January orders and it would be yet another month before they get to my order. A month goes by and I told they haven't started my order yet but if I changed my order from a forged version to a billet version I could get it in about ten days. At this point I am tired of chasing them around to get what I order back in January so I tell them to go a head and change my order.

Two weeks pass and I go to pick my lower receiver up and was told it was now going to cost me more than was I was originally told. My bill of sale said it was $129 and now it is going to cost me $169. At no time Was I told it would cost more to change my order. This seems to me as a bait and switch. By at this price and now if you want it pay this.Desired Settlement: To have a check for the $40 sent to me.

Review: I purchased a match set of upper and lower receiver for an rifle from a jd machine dealer. This was in October of 2013.Since that time the set was send once because of fitting between upper and lower part . Also eject port door do not cover eject port completely(a portion of bolt carrier can be seen when cover is closed) I contacted jd about this several times and finally they admitted that eject port was machined out of spec. but I can purchase cover from them and it will fix the problem. They sent one but it was same size as one that I have so this did not fixed anything. Despite that I still proceeded with rifle assembly . . Last month gun was fired with about 50 rounds now the bolt carrier when in closed position is lower than the edge of upper receiver causing damage to buffer and buffer retaining pin. I contacted jd several times by calling them and sending e mails with no answer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.This is nothing more than ignorance and recklessness by jd . Please note that there is several post about same problem on gun forums. JD is well aware about this problem yet again doing nothing is the best they can do.Desired Settlement: I want a new upper receiver that is machined to military spec
