June 20l7We are responding to a complaint (copy included) ?led recently against Adams Electric Cooperative by [redacted] , [redacted] ***, Upper Strasburg, PA ***, Revdex.com complaint ID [redacted] ( [redacted] )[redacted] is requesting a return of a $deposit that appeared on his billWe have reviewed [redacted] ’s account and he docs not qualify for a refund of that deposit at this timeWe could qualify for a refund (with interest) if the payment history on the account is kept current for a 12-month period.Without getting into speci?cs, a deposit is required after an account becomes delinquent and the memberdeclines to either make payment arrangements or does not adhere to the terms of a payment arrangement.It is also required when the credit rating on an account drops below a certain level due to a series of lateand missed paymentsAdams Electric is a not-for-pro?t member-owned cooperative and this policy is inplace to prevent other members from having to unfairly bear the costs of collection on past due accounts.Adams Electric works with members who request assistance The cooperative has a Round Up for ProjectHelping Hand program, funded by voluntary employee and member contributions, that helps memberswho have trouble paying their electric billsThis program is administered through local communitynonpro?t organizationsOur member services representatives work with members on paymentarrangements so members can avoid late payment Fees, trip charges or disconnection for nonpaymentWealso maintain relationships with community organizations that can assist those in need.Electric cooperatives have a long history of consumer education and we offer information online and inprint about how members can lower their energy bills and make their homes more energy efficient.We hope this resolves the issue, If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at [redacted] @adamsec.coop or ###-###-####

Feb23, 2016Dear Revdex.com,We are formally responding to a complaint submitted to your organization on February 9, 2016, by *** *** of ** *** ***, Gettysburg, PA (case ID ** ***).We have determined that *** *** did not comply with our deposit and referral policy (copy included) that
requires a security deposit of all new members who do not pass a basic credit checkThis check will determine the amount, if any, of a security deposit.On Jan25, *** *** was told she needed to pay a $membership fee, a $service connection fee and a $security deposit before service could be establishedThe security deposit is required if a “soft credit check indicates a low credit score.*** *** paid the membership and service connection fees online but refused to pay the security depositShe was offered the chance to pay the deposit over a period of five weeks which she refusedShe was also offered the chance to add her boyfriend, *** ***, to the accountIf a check to his credit came back good, the security deposit would be waivedShe indicated that she would have *** give the cooperative his personal information so he could be added to the account.On Feb4, a member services representative called *** *** and left a message indicating that the cooperative still did not have the information needed to add *** *** to the accountA request for *** *** to provide this information by Febwas made at that timeOn Feb9, a 48-hour notice was left at the property indicating *** *** had to pay the security deposit or service would be curtailedThis notice added an additional $fee to her account.The charges to date have included the following:o Membership fee (required of all members): $25o New connection fee (required of all members): $30o Security deposit: $250o 48-hour disconnect notice: $50o January electric use: $93.61As of Feb23, her account has been paid in full and includes a credit of $31.39.We hope that this explanation will conclude this matter in a satisfactory mannerIf you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us directlySincerely,Steve R***CEO/General Manager
