My winter tenant (***) was complaining about a draft coming from front door. I gave them *** telephone number. *** is a handyman that normally does a great job and is also doing a lot of work for the condo corporation where I own a condo. *** has contacted *** on Dec. 28, 2017 and they scheduled for *** to come in the following morning.

On Friday *** arrived in the morning. According to ***, *** was there for 30 min and he left. Second time he came back and spent another 30 to 45 min doing repairs. *** put weather stripping on one side of the door, cleaned out hair from two bathtubs that were clogging the drain and checked out the furnace as there was some noise coming from furnace.

*** emailed me an invoice claiming 3 hours of work was done, which I paid ($246.34) anyways. According to ***, the weather stripping was not done very well and I also got overcharged.

I arrived to my condo in July and noticed that the door does not remain shut because of the weather strip. Now the door must be locked all the time to keep it from opening.

I contacted *** on Sep 16, 2018 and asked him to fix the door. He said he could come on Monday Sep 17 and I told him that I would release the key for him from Management as im not there during the week. I never heard back from him and the following day I needed the key to be released to another person so I called the office and they informed me that the key was not returned by ***. I called *** and left him a voice mail instructing him to return the key immediately. He then texted me and said that he returned key but he didn't have time to come over to look at my door. Then I asked him when he is able to come and he replied "not Sure". I never heard back so I texted him again on Sep 22 but he is not replying and is ignoring me now.

Desired Outcome

I am asking that he come back and repair the door so that it remains shut. I would like a billing adjustment - credit of one hour's work. his hourly rate is $60. I need 48 hours notice for his appointment that is convenient for both of us.

hello
this issue is a condo corporation problem, the door is the responsibility of the corp. if there is a issue with it the owner need to direct that to her condo board, as far as the over charge, the owner needs to understand that there was research and materials that need to be sourced and purchased for the repairs and that time spent is all billable hours despite what she thinks, and coming up with this complaint nine months after the first repair was completed is a bit stretched, i'm surprised the tenant *** never said anything about the door not latching properly all winter, maybe the door shifted, maybe something caught the new weather strip and tore it, idk, as far as i'm concerned I attend the unit, repaired the items I was asked to repair, my invoice was paid the following month in January end of story I have forward a copy of this complaint to the management of her condo board and asked them to look into it ,I suggest she contact them aswell

I hired *** to do the work which he got paid for after completion. Please do not deflect this to the condo corp. He could of refused to do the work. He also promised to come back and have a look when I told him that the door will not remain shut. He did not return!

*** is aware that I don't live there and therefore can not check up on his work. Regardless, he did not advise me of his deadline policy as to when I can make complaints.

He has never charged me before for research and materials to be sourced - that's nonsense. This is not stated on my invoice and he's not a lawyer who does billable hours for research - nice try!

The door did not shift and nothing caught in the door strip! Excuses, excuses, excuses!
