Working with Mike Jeffcoat was not a positive experience Jeffcoat Services/Mike Jeffcoat oversold his qualifications, work ethic, work force etc A job that should have taken weeks dragged on for monthsBy his own admission he would not put the cabinets he installed in my kitchen in his own houseThe work he failed to complete last spring remains unfinished and problems with what he did do keep surfacingI am 66, living on social security & trying to update the house I live in So I have a serious budget Mike Jeffcoat seemed like the answer to a prayer when he came over every day for a week last January to close the deal In hindsight, anyone with that much time to kill just to get a job should have been a red flag Boy I learned the hard way It has been over months since he walked off the job without completing it but having collected a minimum of $18,of the $20,estimate Honestly, he has such a violent temper I have been reluctant to speak up about MrJeffcoat The day he stormed off the job without completing it he actually called the police to my home twice I just wanted him gone and to stay gone I've never had the police at my home in my entire lifeBut now that yet ANOTHER problem has arisen as a result of his inferior workmanship, I cannot in good conscience not warn people about this manMrJeffcoat is quite a salesman! It took him quite a while to convince me to give him the job and he apparently thought I was stupid In hindsight I guess I was since I tolerated his nonsense for monthsHe had an excuse for every screw up and in general complete disdain for women This trait didn't surface until my house was a complete mess, the work had begun and I'd given him about $13,which was more than 1/of the estimate With no advance warning he & his unfortunate "helper" totally demolished the entire kitchenLeft the work in the living/dining areas unfinished Came in one morning and took my kitchen down to the walls, a cement floor & plumbing fixtures All appliances were disconnected and moved into other rooms This was done without checking to see if the cabinets were finished They weren't and would not be for almost weeksDuring that time it was fast food & a microwave in a bathroom for me Every day I was told "hopefully tomorrow" I would have been perfectly content with prefabricated cabinets Given the time I waited for these "solid wood, custom made cabinets" I was expecting something breathtakingly beautiful What I got was unfinished plywood mundane kitchen cabinets that were not even properly assembled Unfinished rough wood was the norm for the interiors and I later saw some of the exteriors as well The smoother surface was on the underside of drawers where it was not neededThe rough wood faced the interior of sides, bottoms & backs All of these defects and mistakes apparently escaped Mike's attention or he just didn't care He affixed this mess to my kitchen walls and actually stained them! His attitude when I was in tears when he proudly "unveiled" this nightmare was: "What do you want me to do? TAKE THEM DOWN??" I should have said YES!!! IMMEDIATELY From start to finish it was like the worst, most inexperienced DIY project ever There was nothing that was done only once Everything was trial and errorHis mantra was "Good thing these floors are waterproof!" He even screwed up his "special talent" which was flooring He failed to order enough to complete the job and didn't realize he was going to be short until he actually ran out So that was another delay while we waited for the order to arriveThere was no planning ahead, or schedule or advance notice to me of what to expect day by day I'd tell him I had a doctor's appointment the next day (I had a broken leg at the time) and he would text me at 7:p.mto tell me he had arranged something for the next day at the very time I was scheduled to be with the doctor He only seemed to plan ahead if it was a problem for me This job was so far behind schedule there was no way I was going to ever be the reason for any kind of delay I actually ended up paying $penalties charged by the clinic due to missed appointments Eventually I just kept my schedule to myself so he couldn't sabotage my plansBy that time his co-worker had quit and I became the target of his screaming wrath I remember trembling inside and out every time he lost control I would take my dog and we'd hide in a tiny bedroom until I saw him drive away for the day I had asked before hiring him if he had sufficient manpower for a job this size He assured me he had a number of professionals who regularly worked with him That was an outright lie His references spoke highly of him Little did I know they seemingly used him to clear out trash and rip up carpet when they purchased run down houses for investment purposes He presented himself as their primary remodeling expertWhen his "helper" finally got fed up with his incompetence, randomly taking days off (usually when a deadline was at hand) and Mike's incessant verbal abuse, he went straight to work on another job After he left, even though there was still much to be done, Jeffcoat was at a loss to find any help So this nightmare dragged on and on When his "helper" quit, I felt doomed The helper was actually the real workerStay away from this fraudulent and frightening entity
