I moved out of apartment on Oct 27. Apartment was cleaned and in good condition. It is now Dec 18 and I still have not received my security deposit.
I lived in the *** on *** apartments in Alexandria, Virginia from 2017 - October 27, 2019. I paid a $250 security deposit when I moved into the *** building, apartment ***, Alexandria, VA ***. I moved out on October 27 and did the walkthrough with the property manager. The apartment was cleaned and in good condition when I moved out. It is now Dec 18, 52 days later, and I still have not and I still have not received my security deposit. The *** on *** is owned by Jefferson apartment Group. I have contacted the property manager and corporate office several times about the issue but still have not received a response. I spoke to the property manager today and she told me she'd let me know when it is sent. The leasing office is located *** Alexandria, VA ***, phone number . On October 27, 2019, *** came into the office to turn in his keys for his previous apartment located at *** #***, Alexandria Va. ***. He explained to me that he wanted to make sure that he wrapped everything else and wanted me to walk the apartment with him. I immediately got up from my desk and walked with him and his partner to the apartment, took pictures, told him what his damages were and came back to the office with him. He wrote down his forwarding address as *** Alexandria Va. ***. Knowing how important this was to him, I processed his security deposit speedily. ***’s check was received in my office on the next check run which was November 8, 2019. I immediately sent it to the address that he directed me to send it to. About a week later, *** called me from Savannah Georgia and said that he was out of town and he wanted me to hold his check in the office for him to pick up. I assured *** that I sent his check out immediately as per his instructions, to the address that he gave me on the day of move out. He was upset and I really did not understand why, because I did everything he asked me to do. I assured him that if he had not received his check, that I would have my accountant recut a replacement check for him. *** said that he would call me when he returned from Georgia to let me know whether he received his check at the *** address. On December 18th, *** reported to me that he did not receive his check. I told *** not to worry, and immediately emailed my accountant, who in turn recut a new check and sent overnight the following day. A member of my leasing staff called *** and he picked up his check on Monday 23rd. Thank you so much for listening. It is our desire to provide superior service to all of our residents and his case was no different.

I am rejecting this response because: No One from the leasing staff ever called me to let me know the check came in. I had to call them numerous times and the one time someone actually picked up the phone, they responded with “if we get an answer will let you know.” I had to go to their office several times as they never returned my voicemails or emails after November. The last time I stopped in their office they had the check and it was dated Dec 21. I specifically asked the woman why no one contacted me when the check came in and her response was “ I don’t handle that.” Someone there is lying. If the mailed it on Nov 8 why did I never receive it? Why don’t they use tracking numbers? It has never taken 55 days for me to receive my security deposit back? I will never use or recommend this company again! They are lucky the check came in as I was filing paperwork with the City of Alexandria small claims court.
