On August 2012, Jeffery Vaughner came to our house and said he noticed a window sill needed repair(his brother lived next door and he saw it driving by)He said he was a contractor and wanted to give us a quote on the workHe gave us a quote on the window and also a couple other things we wanted doneHe stated to me that he needed money upfront because he had just gotten out of the hospital and had no funds for materials( I've since learned he was not in the hospital, but had just gotten out of prison, for Theft by Conversion) We wrote the check and he said he'd be here in the next day or two to begin workHe brought an elderly man to actually do the workAs soon as he began, I knew he wasn't capable of doing what was neededThe first attempt did not work out and had to be started overThe second attempt was worse than the first, the third attempt was also a failureThe last time I saw Jeffery Vaughner here, he was leaving to go pick up paintHe never returned, the work was never doneI called and asked for our money backHe said he didn't have that kind of money to just refund meHe suggested I file a claim on his insurance for the $I told him that insurance companies pay for damages, not work not doneI filed a complaint report with the police December No one has ever contacted me about the caseI've called three times and was put on hold and no one ever answered so I gave up and felt I was at the end of the line as for being able to get something done about himJeffery Vaughner has a long arrest record, dating from thru current, Theft by Conversion, Forgery, Impersonating another PersonThis man is not to be trustedI guess this is just a hard lesson learned for us, but maybe this will prevent someone else from being scammed by him
