Jeffreys Auto World Reviews (1)

I bought a Jeep from Bruce & Jeffrey's Auto World on Ebay. Jeep was listed on Ebay to be in Excellent condition body, mechanically & interior. I live in Minnesota so I needed to rely on his honesty regarding the condition of this Jeep. I told him I was going to fly out with my 11 year old daughter and we were going to drive it back to Minnesota. I asked him point blank if it would be good & safe for our ride back. He said it's one of the best older jeeps he's ever ridden in and it will be just fine for our ride home. Wow, how could he???!!!
My daughter & I flew out and yes, he was kind enough to pick us up at the airport according to his "free delivery within 100 miles" pledge. Bruce himself seemed a nice enough guy but the lies he told about the vehicle were outrageous and down right immoral.
First off, the listing on Ebay said tires at 75%. Wrong. They were 10-30% at best.
Interior "Excellent". Wrong. The stereo was gone, handle on the drivers door gone, [redacted] on the passenger window crank missing, upholstered door panels held together with no less than 200 common office type staples, each, with the ends poking INTO the passenger cabin. Glove box door feel off. Center console lid not attached and fell off, mismatched rear bench seat with no seat belts. Gas gauge didn't work and speedometer didn't work.
For the Exterior that was in "excellent" condition, there were so many rust holes that were just covered up by cosmetic plating it was insane.
Jeep was listed in "Excellent" condition mechanically as well. My daughter and I planned to stay the night in Philadelphia and then drive home. Bruce parked the Jeep near our hotel and I never drove it till the morning. In the morning, I went out to move the Jeep to the front of our hotel so we could load up our bags. One problem, the Jeep wouldn't go into gear. After letting the Jeep warm up a little, and pumping the clutch a lot, I was able to get it to shift, although very rough. I had some repairs done in Philly to get us back on the road, but as it turns out, the Jeep had so many mechanical issues, that the one repair wasn't sufficient. I ended up spending $2800 between Philly and Pittsburgh on a $3600 Jeep, just to try to keep it going. Along with the huge financial output for mechanical repairs and hotels because we now had to be staying overnight in little towns while the Jeep got worked on, the level of fear and anxiety while driving not knowing what would go wrong next was horrible. Once the Jeep got warm, I could pull it out of gear, but then it wouldn't go into any other gears. I often for example at a toll booth had to let the Jeep coast, pull over before the toll booth, let the Jeep cool down for an hour, then start up again, otherwise I would be stranded at the toll booth blocking entrance for any one else, as well. It was very difficult to say the least.
After 3 days of doing this, and stopping to have repairs done and waiting an hour at a time at toll booths or to get gas, we made it to a town about 300 miles West of Philly. We had some additional repairs done but this time, while the Jeep was up on the rack, after the repairs were complete and we believed we were finally going to be able to drive the Jeep home, the owner of the repair shop said yes, your Jeep can be driven, BUT, the frame has so many rust holes, horrible frame repairs and 3 active frame cracks, that if you hit one good sized pot hole on your trip, the frame could actually buckle and leave you wrecked on the highway! Can you imagine a Jeep splitting in 1/2 driving at 65 MPH. What do YOU think would happen to the people inside?
That was it. I couldn't take the risk of driving another mile. We had to rent a car to drive a rental home to Minnesota. How could this man / car lot, look me in the eye and tell me this Jeep would be "just fine" for me and my 11 year old daughter to drive home 1000 miles. How could he decide in good conscience that it was OK for him to put my daughters life & mine in Jeopardy just for the sake of selling a car? How could anyone do that. I don't know, but this man did.
Do not buy anything from this man. He is willing to risk your life for the sole purpose of selling a car. Don't let him put your life or your families life at risk. If he's willing to do it to me, he's willing to do it to you, no matter whether you think you're getting a good deal or not, no matter whether you've already won an auction or not, don't do it.
I did end up receiving the purchase price of the Jeep back, but he offered nothing for the new tires that I put on, nor any of the mechanical repairs I did, or the expense of the rental car, hotels, nothing. I won this auction on Ebay and paid $3,600 for the Jeep. From the first repair till the final bill for car rental, I invested over $4,000 additional into the Jeep and the trip. I don't even have a car to show for it. This was absolutely the worst car purchasing experience of my life, and I have never done business with a man so absent of scruples in my life. .
DON'T DO IT!
