Review: We(teachers at [redacted])scheduled, booked and paid for lunch for a field trip of 55 people to the total of $1452.00 on 4/**/15. On 4/**/15, we received an e-mail informing us that the business had closed. Apparently, the business declared bankruptcy. We spoke to a contact person, and she was unable to give us any information. Subsequently, our staff and students did not receive their service, meals or a refund of any kind.Desired Settlement: Please refund our money. That money was raised by our children. It should be returned.

Review: I am running a trip to NYC on Wednesday, May *, 2015 and contracted with the Jekyll and Hyde Restaurant for my group to have dinner for 65 people at their establishment in its [redacted] location at 5:15 p.m. on that same day. I received an email on 3/**/15 stating this branch of the restaurant is now closed. They stated that since we have a contract and have already sent in a deposit of $1,216.80 (60% of the total cost) that they could accommodate us at their [redacted] location at [redacted]. Tel: ###-###-####. I wanted to know my options, so I inquired what their refund policy would be since they were in breech of contract and were unable to fulfill their agreement with my group. They would not answer my question. There is nothing listed in the contract that mentions what happens if the [redacted] location were to close. I have also been trying to inquire how to accept their offer of bringing my group to the [redacted] location. However, the personnel at Jekyll and Hyde will not return any of my emails or phone messages. I have called more than ten times and they will not answer or return messages. I called them from my home phone number on Thursday, April *, 2015 and finally spoke to a person. After giving my name and the name of my group, we suddenly got "disconnected''. After being disconnected, I called back and their was no answer. Furthermore, they did not make any attempt to contact me. My group has worked very hard to raise the necessary funds to take this trip and we deserve a fair outcome to this issue.Desired Settlement: My group would prefer a complete refund of our deposit of $1,216.80. We chose the [redacted] location of Jekyll and Hyde Restaurant because it is within walking distance to our planned itinerary. Attending the [redacted] location may be possible, but will place undue burden on our group, since we will need to plan for and provide transportation to this new location. The trip is less than one month away, and regardless of the outcome, we need to make necessary plans and arrangements. We are a school group coming from [redacted] in [redacted]. Please refund our deposit or give us information about how to make the transition to the [redacted] location.

Review: On September **, 2014 our [redacted] gave a deposit of $2,041.38 for a group lunch reservation at the [redacted] location of the Jekyll and Hyde Club for March **, 2015.

Our school’s coordinator of this student field trip was notified by the restaurant's representative on March **, two days in advance of the reservation, that the [redacted] location had closed. Because of the students’ tight schedule and time constraints on the day of their field trip, which included activities before and after lunch, they were unable to switch their reservation to the restaurant's [redacted] location. At that time, the deposit should have been refunded.

Our students and their families pay for their field trip experiences out of their own pocket and take part in several fundraising events in order to be able to participate in activities such as this, so it is disappointing we have received no response to our email of May **, 2015 to [redacted] or to our school principal’s request in March, requesting a refund of the students’ deposit.Desired Settlement: We respectfully request your intervention in this matter for a full refund of our students’ deposit of $2,041.38 since their inability to keep their reservations with Jekyll and Hyde Club was through no fault of their own. I can provide a copy of the school's cancelled check upon request, as well as copies of email communications between the restaurant and our school district staff.
