Jenny Beauty Supply Reviews (1)

Review: On March 22nd 2013, I went to Jenny Beauty Supply located at Lake Crest Village in

Sacramento, CA to purchase a wig. Upon finding the wig I was looking for, I had asked the

owner of the store specifically if I would be able to dye the wig and if dying would work on

this particular wig". She told me it would work but if it didn't, I was told I could return the

wig for a full refund. So I purchased the wig for $237.59 with the assurance from the store

owner that I would be able to return it for a full refund if I wouldn't be able to dye the wig.

Unfortunately and surprisingly, I found out later that I couldn't dye the wig. It just wouldn't

work - the wig wasn't dyeable. I went back to Jenny Beauty Supply located on 1026 Florin

Road, Sacramento, CA 95831 to speak to the owner of the store about returning the wig

since it wasn't dyeable. To my shock and dismay, she refused to issue a refund claiming that

it was a final sale. How could she say that? If she had no intention of issuing a refund, why

wouldn't she say so beforeI1 purchased the wig? Why would she tell me I could return the

merchandise for a full refund before I made the purchase and turn around and refuse

now? When I asked her that, she kept saying, "It's a final sale! No refund!" This is

deceptive! Besides, why would she tell me the wig was dyeable when in fact it wasn't to

begin with? All of this could have been avoided had she been upfront with me from the

beginning.

I'm outraged at her refusal to refund my money to which I believe I'm entitled to. Refusing

a refund she had once promised to issue is a question of integrity as her decision is guided by

her expediency rather than principle. This is a perfect example of unscrupulous business

practice! Again, I wouldn't have spent $237.59 had I not been misled by the owner simply

because it's too much money to spend on a product I have no use for.

I'm left with no choice but complain to your department for a peaceful resolution to this

predicament since I was unable to resolve it on my own. I'd like you to please help me get

my money back as it's a fair, reasonable and ethical thing to do. Enclosed you'll find the

receipt for the transaction.

Desired Settlement: I look forward to your reply and a resolution of this matter. Please let me know the results

of your investigations at the address listed above.

Business

Response:

Business' Initial Response

This letter is in response to compliant #XXXXXXXX.

On March 22nd, 2013, a Customer purchased two packs of Virgin Human Hair (not a wig in which the customer falsely reported). The Customer asked me (Manager and Licensed Cosmologist) if she was able to dye the wig because she had purchased some hair dye from a drug store. I replied that many customers choose to dye the hair they purchase. The Customer was accompanied by her cousin, who told the customer that she would dye it for her. I never promised to refund or exchange the hair extension after the extensions were dyed, used or altered.

When the Customer returned with a bundle of loose hair and no original packaging, she requested a refund because it did not turn out the shade in which she desired. I informed her that I would not be able to refund her purchase because she had altered the hair. Our store post notices that items will not be refunded or exchanged if the merchandise has been altered or is not in the original packaging. We maintain this policy because it is unsanitary to use altered or worn hair such as wigs and extensions. We also require that unused items be in the original packaging and for the Customers to present a receipt for their purchases.

Consumer's Final Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

Dear Sir/Madam:

Re: Response to Jenny Beauty Supply

This letter is in response to the letter written by the manager of Jenny Beauty Supply. Her response is disappointing, but not surprising. She obviously denied having agreed to issue a full refund upon dissatisfaction of a product she had sold me on March 22, 2013.

I don't want to sound redundant, but if she had no intention of issuing a refund for whatever reason, she should not have told me she'd issue a refund. But she did, the question is why? Why else would anyone say one thing and do another unless it's being used for the purpose of deception? Yes, I was told I would be refunded if the "human hair" I had purchased wasn't dyeable. She is being untruthful when she said she had never promised a refund! Yes, she did! With out her assurance of a refund, I wouldn't have spent that much money on a product that wouldn't be useful to me. The manager needs to understand that fair and satisfactory product and service is the reason we all pay our money in exchange for; otherwise, we would be, in essence, throwing away our money.

As for her accusation of me having "falsely reported" the type of product I had purchased, there's no harm done, as it wasn't intentional like she claimed it is. But I'm glad she brought it up, as it'll lead to the following critical question: Wouldn't it be much easier to dye a "virgin human hair" than a synthetic wig? If so, I shouldn't have had a problem coloring the hair then, should I? Why couldn't I dye it if, indeed, it's a human hair like she claimed it is? Or is she going to come up with another theory as to why I wasn't able to dye it? It wouldn't surprise me if she did. It seems like her product didn't live up to its expectations. Again, there's a pattern here that's worth paying attention to: Her defective product and her empty promises! I have a big problem with that!

For any customer to have to experience this ordeal is beyond what I can say. Unlike any manager, the manager at Jenny Beauty Supply comported herself recklessly. As some one who runs a business, you'd think she would listen to customer's complaints or concerns attentively to find a solution to the problem rather than engaging herself in an endless bickering like there's something to be gained from such encounter. I'll be sure to share this horrible experience with others via the Internet starting with www.yelp.com so others won't fall prey to her unscrupulous business practice!

Sincerely,
