Jerry Pounds Construction Reviews (2)

Warranty work was completed poorly after many attempts and poor customer service. Company continues to ignore claims to properly fix ongoing issues. We purchased our brand new home in October of 2012 and at closing we were told we had a one year warranty, meaning that if anything went wrong in the home throughout the year, the builders would submit a claim to the warranty company and the issues would be completed appropriately. I submitted warranty request claims with Jerry Pounds Construction twice in July- August 2013, both of which were not answered. My emails to the company were finally answered in September of 2013. They did not get out to look at the issues that needed to be fixed until almost a year later, in August of 2014. Lots of emails were sent to both owner and employees to get these problems solved and all were ignored or they would email back to appease me and never respond to set up a time to come look. They came out in August of 2014 to fix the flooring in the bathroom, the bowed hallway wall, and nail pops. They did not contact our warranty company and fixed these issues themselves, using their own contractors even though we did have a one year builders warranty that came with the new house. The bow in the wall was still present so one week later they came out to redo that as well as the flooring issue continued to be incomplete. The only time the actual employees (not contractors) came to the property was when the flooring contractor made a statement that there was lots of moisture under the flooring and it was around the joints in the foundation, and that there looked to be mold present. I of course was very upset seeing as I bathe my 1 year old in that tub daily. They quickly came out and put cameras into the wall to check which showed no moisture in the walls. They replaced the floor twice. The first time they just laid the new laminate on top of the old. When we woke up the next morning there was very large pockets of air underneath the new flooring so when you stepped on it your foot sank in. They came out the next day and ripped both the new and old laminate up which is when they found the moisture. They sealed it and laid the brand new laminate down. The employees said if any issues arose after they placed it, to give them a call and they would be out right away to do more testing or put tile down to see if that solves the issue. Two months later the flooring started to bubble up again and this time even worse and in the same location as last time. Also, the window in our kitchen started to leak again which had been fixed in November of 2012, a month after we moved in. The ground by the drainage under our driveway has begun to eat away, causing the steel support beams to be visible as well as cracks along those places into our driveway. We have attempted to send the builder himself many emails that have been left unanswered. One email was answered from his employee as I sent all pictures of the damages I had still occurring after their attempts to fix them. She informed me that they would schedule a time for the contractors to come out the following week to take a look. I then never heard back from her after many failed attempts to send her more emails. The only attempt that the owner made to contact me was when I showed visible concern on a social media for other people to see. He expressed that he never received these emails and I was to forward all of unanswered emails to him immediately so he could further view all of them. I sent him all of the emails that were unanswered over the past two years as well as sent him a [redacted] message (per his request) to get these issues finally fixed correctly. He has read these messages but has not responded. I called our warranty company from the documents given to us at closing and they never got any requests in for our property by Jerry Pounds Construction, Inc to fix anything which means he did not file any claims. This company has the poorest customer service I have ever experienced. They strive to say they use the best quality products service, but their actions speak otherwise.Desired SettlementI would like the flooring issue to finally be fixed without any more bubbling up. If that means tile floors, then we need to work out a deal to incorporate the tile into the other bathroom so these issues don't keep occurring to any of the two. I would like the leak under our kitchen window to be fixed properly this time, meaning that we don't have to keep a close eye on it anytime it rains to make sure there is no water coming through. I also would like there to be a resolution with our driveway situation to eliminate the damages that continue to occur when it rains which causes the ground underneath our driveway to deteriorate. I would like these warranty issues to be fixed appropriately and in a timely manner. I don't want to have to keep emailing and emailing to just be ignored. The customer service this company gives out is less than satisfactory. The next step is legal action and claims filed through our warranty company, the correct way which would make it apparent they did not do what they were supposed to.Business Response There have been offers to try to deal with Ms. [redacted] but she is very uncooperative and keeps threatening lawsuits. We have built approximately 100 homes in this subdivision and Ms. [redacted] is the one with all the problems. After 26 years of successful building Ms. [redacted] gets to be our Revdex.com complaint. I have told Ms. [redacted] that I will meet with her but she seems to be more interested in creating drama than resolving any problem that my exist. I have not responded to this complaint because it went to my junk mail box.

I would not recommend this builder to anyone. I will detail here my experience with this company and let any readers be the judge. Jerry Pounds Construction built my neighbors home. I assess that the low-emissivity windows in that construction have subsequently melted the vinyl siding on my home. I have tried for nearly two years to resolve this issue with Jerry Pounds Construction and they have done nothing except delay, deny, threaten, counter-accuse, pretend to care, and finally ignore my issue according to the following timeline.
May 28th 2014, we contact Jerry Pounds Construction regarding the siding damage.
June 22nd 2014, we contact Jerry Pounds Construction to remind them that we have not received a response.
June 27th 2014, we contact Jerry Pounds Construction to remind them that we still have not received a response.
June 30th 2014, we receive a response from JPC Inc. stating that they build houses to code, and our report is the first they have heard about Low-E windows causing damage.
July 1st 2014, we respond stating that Low-E damage is a common issue and request a meeting in person to address the issue.
July 6th 2014, after no response we again request a meeting.
July 11th 2014, we receive a reponse asking us to contact the siding manufacturer and ask them to come inspect the house in order to provide a statement assigning blame for the damage. JPC refuses to come inspect the damage, although we later find out that they had covertly done so.
July 14th 2014, we give the courtesy of a response informing JPC Inc that we are complying with their request.
July 16th 2014, we inform JPC Inc of that siding claims process and our phone conversation with the siding company.
Aug 1st 2014, we inform JPC that the result of the claims process shows that the damage has been caused by heat distortion (thogh the company would not formally pinpoint a source due to legal concerns). We also request a meeting for the third time, and ask to know what the window manufacturer told JPC.
Aug 7th 2014, we contact JPC Inc to request a response.
Aug 15th 2014, we receive a response from JPC Inc stating that nothing we have informed them of constitutes proof that their window is causing the damage, that similar construction hasn't had an issue, that they had covertly looked at our home without the common courtesy of actually meeting us (something that we had requested 3 times), and subtly threatening legal action for libel in the case of accusations to third parties.
Aug 16th, 2014. Jerry Pounds tells me that if I can positively demonstrate that the windows in my neighbor's home are causing the damage he will take appropriate action to fix it.
At this point, I have to wait a couple of months. The damage only happens in the fall and winter months, so I have to wait for that time of year to prove conclusively what is happening.
October 17th, 2014. I tell Jerry that the damage is happening and he can come see it for himself and feel the heat with his own hands.
October 27th 2014. We are told Jerry Pounds will be gone for 3 weeks and get back to us later.
December 3rd, 2014. Five weeks later we still haven't heard anything. We attempt to contact Jerry Pounds again.
January 9th, 2015. Jerry responds by telling us who made our neighbors windows. He ignores his earlier promise to resolve the issue if we could demonstrate what was causing it.
January 14th, 2015. Another attempt to reach Jerry Pounds is ignored.
February 19th, 2015. I again remind Jerry of his promise to fix this issue. It is again ignored.
In February 2015, my neighbor got involved with JPC and told them he wasn't happy with his windows and wanted them replaced. They told him they would do so. It has now been a year, the windows are not replaced, JPC has dragged their feet and delayed for that whole year, and they are now telling my neighbor that he has to pay to replace the windows himself.
In summary,
- There was no damage to my siding form 2008 to 2013.
- Following the construction of my neighbor's home by JPC Inc, the siding facing the low-e windows on that home received damage from heat distortion.
- The heat distortion neatly fits a pattern that is associated with damage caused by low-e windows.
- My vinyl siding manufacturer certified that the damage from heat distortion was not due to a defect in the siding.
- JPC Inc interactions are reflected in the above timeline.
During my interactions with JPC from July 2014 - February 2015 I was deployed to the Middle East and my wife was pregnant. During that time, Jerry covertly visited my home and threatened my family for speaking up about this issue.
I have pictures of the damage and have saved my email interactions with JPC if anyone is interested in that information. You be the judge on this company's character and customer service.","neg-1
