Revdex.com 151 N Delaware Street #2020 Indianapolis, IN 46204-2599   Re: Case ID# [redacted]     To whom it may concern,   Thank you for bringing these concerns to our attention.  It is our understanding that the customer in question has requested that tuition be...

refunded and that an advertisement of Positive Parenting in association with our organization be removed as false.   Distelrath Farms, Inc is a small, private school which uses a farm to teach.  We believe that the garden, the kitchen, the library, the bee-hives, the woodshop, and the chicken coop serve as strong settings for deep education and lasting personal development to occur.  We work primarily with homeschooling families to take the traditional academics studied at home and put them into practice on the farm.   Our refund policy is as follows: a.       Refunds: If the child cannot remain in school for a full school year, please give the school a two-week prior written notice. Tuition paid in advance will only be refunded for days extending beyond two-week notice. Application fee will not be refunded.   The incident referenced by the Customer took place Wednesday 5/31/2017.  At dismissal (approximately 4:15pm), the Teacher involved informed the Customer of a safety concern that occurred during school.  The Teacher further informed the Customer that he raised his voice during the group discussion about the event, and that she may want to check-in with her son on the ride home.   On Monday 6/4/2017 at approximately 1:00pm, the Customer dropped her son off as normal, allowing him to attend school that day.    On Monday 6/4/2017, at approximately 4:15pm, the Customer verbally withdrew her son from the school.  In three independent conversations with four staff members, the Customer indicated the sole reason for withdrawal as anxiety related to painters stealing money from her house while she was taking her son to school.  Because they only had a couple of weeks left before they moved, the added anxiety didn’t seem worth the final few classes.    The Customer had paid tuition through Wednesday 6/14/2017, which fell within the minimum two-week notice required for any refund.   *Please see the attached document*   At no point was a refund requested either informally or in writing.   After reviewing the time-line and documents, we have determined that no refund is to be issued.     Regarding the accusation of false advertising:   Positive Discipline is an approach to working with children based on the research of Alfred Adler and synthesized by Dr. Jane Nelson.  The advertisement in question was regarding a third-party Positive Discipline workshop being held on the farm.  This was not an advertisement for or of the school itself, therefore the school has no obligation to remove the advertisement.   *Please see the attached document.*     In the interest of confidentiality, identifying information has been excluded from this report.  If additional information is needed, please do not hesitate to reach out.   Thank you for the opportunity to provide insight into these matters.                                             ... Sincerely,                                           ... Distelrath Farms, Inc.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Distelrath farms is correct in stating that My son went to school there part time. Distelrath is correct in stating that there was an incident may 31, 2017 which involved the owner/teacher/president andrew distelrath screaming at my 6 yr old child and calling him (and students)  stupid mn. They are also correct in stating that I pulled my son from their school as a direct result of this incident. However, they are incorrect in stating that my son was brought BACK to school june 4 AFTER the screaming incident (to note June 4th is a Sunday. Prior to being pulled out my son attended Monday's and Wednesdays). My son was pulled out may 31 the same day that the incident occurred. I had a private and  direct conversation with Andrew distelrath in regards to the incident upon pick up of my child from school at 4p where he made light of the 5 minute screaming session stating "your son handled it great" disregarding the fact that my 6yr old  son cried in a corner. Children's protective services was called immediately following and it's my understanding that an investigation was opened due to the situation with mr distelrath and other situations reported as well. He is currently under investigation from my understanding due to this aggression. . Andrew distelrath is also on a leave of absence as a direct result of the numerous parents who have come forward stating aggression When signing my child up for this school initially, Andrew distelrath stated there would be a refund if not fully satisfied. As parents we are not only dissatisfied with the schools inability to effectively keep someone away from children with this temper, but sadly disappointed in the continuing of falsifications being made. It was stated online that they encourage positive discipline and respect and joy etc. Although stated that the owner/teacher/president Andrew distelrath was offered and involved in the positive discipline class, it is very apparent that screaming and calling young defenseless children after having been offered the class,  is anything but positive Discipline and a true testament to the ineffectiveness of the class(es) on his behalf. We are hoping for a refund for services not provided and emotional damage to my son on behalf of Andrew distelrath.
