Jerry's Transmission Reviews (3)

11/01/2017Revdex.com,Attached is the letter I received from the Montana Department of Justice Consumer Protection Office regarding my complaint against Jerry's Transmission – Kurt J[redacted]. As you can see from what the letter says, it in NO WAY absolves or sides with Jerry's Transmission. It states, "Since there is a significant factual dispute, OCP is unable to assist with a resolution." And, it continues to say their (the MT DOJs) inability to assist "in no way reflects the validity of your complaint." Is offers further resources to pursue such as a civil lawsuit or small claims court. If Jerry's Transmissions has a letter that has something different stated in it they need to produce that letter (which will be verified with the MT DOJ that they actually sent it). Unless that happens, it is clearly obvious that Jerry's Transmissions is NOT being truthful about the MT DOJ siding with or absolving them of any wrongdoing. They are lying once again to deflect attention off what the truth really is and trying and make themselves look good. Also, Jerry's refusal to "comment on all the points alleged" continues to show their inability to provide any justifiable excuses for their actions. Kurt also makes the comment in what appears to be a grand gesture manner saying that he didn't charge me a penny for any work they did. As if that somehow justifies what they put me through? 18 months of nothing but lies, hell and breaking things then making me pay for it? Their failure to take care of the malfunctioning transmission issues in a timely manner AND their working on my ENGINE (which they had no right, no permission and did without my knowledge) ABSOLUTELY caused the additional parts to fail. I have them on video admitting to working on my engine and showing them doing it. They also put my engine warranty I have with the other repair shop that replaced it at risk by doing UNAUTHORIZED work and repairs to it. Finally, despite Kurt's audio/video recorded offer to call me when he returned from out of state training to sit down and have a discussion about how to resolve this (because he doesn't want negative reviews to affect his business)- he never called. Even when I called the business to remind him that he said that- No call. He merely sent a message through his office worker that he wasn't going to pay for the damage repairs they caused to my engine. How Kurt J[redacted] calls himself a "Christian" or "Godly" business owner while blatantly lying, dodging truths, treating people so badly and accepting no personal responsibility is truly baffling. I hope someday he will live up to what he claims to be. [redacted]

To whom it may concern. My name is Brett B[redacted] Office Manager at Jerrys transmissionService. In late June of 2016 [redacted] called my office and inquired about having 2 manualtransmissions brought in and have the units torn down and a estimate written on both. One was theSaginaw discussed in...

the letter and the other was a Muncie, both 4 speed manuals. [redacted] dropped offthe units on Friday 7 /1/16.Upon disassembly of the units it was decided by [redacted] that the Muncie wasnot a viable option to rebuild due to the extensive damage as the cost exceeded several thousanddollars. We did the 2 hours of bench labor ( $ 190.00) to the Muncie at no charge to [redacted] as heagreed to have us build the Saginaw. I gave [redacted] the estimate for the Saginaw and told him it shouldcome in around$ 950.00 dollars for the repair. [redacted] agreed and authorized the work to be performed. We had both units torn down in approximately 7 business days and on July 14th we orderedparts for the Saginaw. We received the Saginaw repair parts on Wednesday July 20th and startedreassemble of the unit. On Monday July 25th I phoned [redacted] and informed him that the transmissionwas done and he could make plans to come to Missoula. [redacted] agreed and came in on Wednesday July27th and picked up the Saginaw and we boxed up the Muncie as requested. In mid August [redacted] calledand informed me the vehicle had the same noise coming from the unit as before. At this time I asked[redacted] to bring in the vehicle as it is easier to diagnose a noise from a transmission that is installed andoperational. At no time did I tell [redacted] that there would be any charge for looking at the vehicle.[redacted] dropped of the vehicle on Friday September second. After we returned to work onSeptember 6th after the labor day holiday, we scheduled the vehicle for Rack ( lift) time. After runningthe vehicle in the air on the rack we did hear a noise from the transmission. At that time we decided toremove the transmission for tear down and inspection. Bear in mind we had never seen the vehicle anddid not install the unit. We were never paid to remove or replace the unit. So at our cost ( $364.00 ) wepulled the transmission and disassembled it to check if we had performed the reassemble incorrectly.Upon inspection we found no visual evidence of anything wrong nor did we find a problem with thecase. We then reassembled the unit and reinstalled it into the vehicle. When we performed the run teston the rack the noise was still present. So again at our cost ( $364.00 ) we pulled the unit for the secondtime. We returned the unit to the rebuild center and performed a second tear down on thetransmission again at our cost. Every tear down and reassemble is$ 455.00 dollars, now totaling $910.00
dollars in bench labor paid for by us. We again found nothing wrong, but we do believe the noiseis coming off the reverse gear and reverse idler. It is our opinion that the gears in question are ofChinese origin and inferior parts. We have ordered the parts in suspect and are waiting there arrival atthis time. Bear in mind this is a 1966 Chevrolet and parts are just not laying on the shelf at your localparts house. And we are paying for the new parts and are not asking for any money from the customer. We now have provided $ 1820.00 dollars in labor at no charge. And will purchase the new gears at nocharge to the customer. So our position at this time, is to reassemble the unit and recheck for the noise.
We received the new gears and installed them into the transmission, we reinstalled the unit intothe vehicle and run tested the the vehicle on the rack. At this time the noise is gone and we have roadtested the vehicle and it works perfectly. We contacted [redacted] and informed him that the new partsfixed the problem and the vehicle had been road tested and he could make arrangements to come andpick up the vehicle. The work to the vehicle was completed on 10/27/16 and [redacted] picked up hisvehicle on 10/28/16.We as a well established shop that has been in business for over 50 years take great pride in ourwork. We work on vintage vehicles, street rods and classic cars and trucks to try to provide a service tothe community. As there are very few /1 Grey Beards /1 left that can perform work to these specializedautomobiles without causing more damage than good. Having to respond to the Revdex.com and the Dept. ofJustice, consumer affairs division is a slap in the face after what this shop has done to help [redacted]. Because of this we are no longer going to accept work on these types of vehicles, as theowners of them could never afford to pay the costs to repair them without our generosity, on repairtime and labor costs. We lose money on every one of these jobs, but after all these years have stillcontinued to try and help out the classic car and truck community to get there projects on the road. It isunfortunate that this is no longer the case. The old saying is still true "One bad apple can spoil a wholebarrel."Kurt J[redacted] - Owner, Jerrys Transmissions

Subject: JERRYS TRANSMISSIONS / [redacted]     This is a follow up response to Heather Reeves, second letter. Jerrys Transmissions cannot comment on all of the points alleged. The mechanical problems with the engine were NOT related to the transmission repair. The alternator bearings went bad and the water pump had a bad impellor and was changed out under warranty by [redacted] states that the parts were damaged by the transmission, but we humbly disagree. Jerrys Transmissions was contacted by the State of Montana Dept. of Justice, Office of Consumer Protection on Friday October 20th, regarding the complaint that they had received from [redacted] and stated that they had reviewed the case and that there findings were in favor of Jerrys Transmissions and that they were closing the case. Jerrys Transmissions performed all work on [redacted] truck at no charge and stood behind our original warranty of 18 months / 18,000 miles, repaired the vehicle and issued a new warranty of 24 months and 24,000 miles to try to satisfy [redacted] We feel we have honored our contractual agreement under the original purchase. And do not feel it is fair that we have to reimburse [redacted] for a transmission that is under a full 24 month warranty nor should we be responsible for reimbursement of any engine related parts. We feel that this matter is closed to the satisfaction of the Revdex.com.                                                        Kurt J[redacted]-- Owner jerrys Transmissions
