Review: We purchased a clothes washer in May of 2014 and had it delivered June 17th, 2014. On Monday Sept. 15th my wife attempted to run a wash and could not. The system gave an IE error signal. We then called the appliance store where the item was purchased ( [redacted] ) as it was under factory warranty. We were referred to them by the appliance store. We called them and arrainged an appointment for today ( 09/16/2014). The "repairman" showed up at about 10 A.M. and proceded to look at the machine. After a short period of time he called me over and said that the problem was that the cold water had not been turned on. He also claimed that since this was not a problem that was from the unit so that it was going to cost me a service charge of $85.55. As I was not entirely sure if this was accurate I did give him a check for that amount. When I spoke to my wife she advised me that this was not possible as she has used the machine for over two months and does NOT do only HOT WATER WASHES. Upon further inspection we also found that the repairman left the washer half full with water, and the water faucet that he claimed that was off and that he turned on still had accumulated dust on it. When we called them to complain and find out why all this happened all they did was scream at my wife, told her she was an it and hung up on her. We then called back to inform them that they did not solve the problem ( the tub of the washer had standing water in it ) and that we intended to put a "STOP PAYMENT" on the check. He then threatened to SUE US for theft of service and hung up again. We then had to get in touch with the appliance store we bought it from to try to find out how to get the water from the machine. I am now in a position of being out $30.00 ( cost of stopping payment of check ) facing the threat of being sued and I have a machine that is not functioning. I need you to please look into this matter and get me some satisfaction.++++++++++Desired Settlement: To be reimbursed for the cost of putting a stop payment on the check ($30.00) and to have the machine put into proper working order. An apology to my wife would be in order but having spoken to these people I believe that would be an impossibility. I would like documentation of the incident so that if the need to repair the machine within the warrenty period arises again there would be no retaliation for this event and that they perform the necessary repairs without malice.

Review: 12/6 I hired Jersey Appliance to fix my washer door, when the technician arrived several hours late. He was unable to fix the problem, he said he had to order a part and return. He requested a $100.00 deposit. I gave him my[redacted], he copied it down. I asked him while he was here if he could take a look at my dryer door, that wasn't closing properly as well as my dishwasher.

He told me he would have to check prices of parts and let me know when he returned the prices.

12/11 The technician returned once again VERY late, I had an appointment to be at. I called him to find out where he was, he was at a job in Colts Neck and he would be there in 1/2 hour. 45 minutes later (4:50pm) he arrived.

I had to leave, he said he would be quick, after checking his truck for another 5 minutes, he came to the door to tell me he didn't have the parts to my washer and he would have to come back.

Very disappointed, I agreed to his return the next morning.

As I was gathering my things to leave, he came racing to the door, saying the parts were in his pocket the whole time.

After not having a washing machine for more than two weeks and very desperate, I told him to come in.

I had to be at my appointment, he said he would let himself out(i had used JA before and felt he was honest enough to leave and my roommate was home if there were any problems.

I left. Approximately 15 minutes later he called to say he was finished and was leaving.

I arrived home, went downstairs. My washer was fixed HALLALUYAH!!!!

On top of the washer was TWO receipts, one for the washer and one for the dryer.

I had not authorized the dryer to be fixed.

I was charged $174.41 for the dryer.

I called Jersey Appliance, I asked for a supervisor to discuss the matter. I was met with rudeness, belligerence and voice raising.

I disputed the charge with[redacted], Jersey Appliance sent a receipt with my signature forged. It was clearly traced over.Desired Settlement: A full refund to my credit card, in the amount of $174.41

Review: Jersey Appliance contacted for service and repair on [redacted] Refrigerator/Freezer as per [redacted]. Freezer not working. Tech came to look at freezer and determined that drain pan had fluid in it and freezer evaporator was leaking, has a seal system issue.Unit needs replacement Service charge $79.95. Parts and labor total $1316.04. [redacted] agreed to pick up cost for parts I pay labor.Labor charge is for replacing evaporator, compressor, adding freon ($135) and recovery fee $75.00. Set up appt. for July 16th between 1:00 and 3:00pm. Take day off from work. get call at 2:00pm July 16 and was told wrong part ordered will have to re-order part and re=schedule appt.Lost wages for day ($270) New apt for Aug 27th between 1:and 5:00pm. Wife takes day off work. 5:00 no show, call Jersey appliance told running late be there with in the hour. 7:45 tech shows up.(Lost wages $208) Looks at freezer says fitting has a leak will re-solder fitting. Done. No new parts installed. Still have to pay ($375 labor, Why? tech says will keep new parts from [redacted] at shop and if unit fails again within a year will repair for free. (Told not to tell [redacted]. Next day call and want to know why labor was $375 when no new parts installed. tech rude and says that's what I have to pay. Tell tech ice maker is not working now and was working before. Tech say have to make new appt. ($79.95)to troubleshoot new problem. I refuse to use their service again. I looked at freezer myself and found that tech had turned off switch inside freezer so ice maker would not work. Switch is inside small opening of freezer chamber that a homeowner would never think to look. This is not the 1st time had trouble with Jersey Appliance. 8months before had them look at [redacted] dishwasher (79.95) service charge and was told dishwasher un-repairable. fixed myself with a wire nut (still runs like new today.Horrible customer service and this was the service Mgr. [redacted] who did so called service.Desired Settlement: I want refund of service charges ($79.95 and $375)for lost wages of $480 because of cancellation at the end of appt. date (ordered wrong parts)and 2nd appt.date showing up at 7:45pm and not installing a compressor and evaporator but soldering a leaking fitting all because of wrong diagnosis when troubleshooting freezer. Then the sneaky part of turning off the freezer switch to extort more money out of me. Also want new Parts sent back to Whirlpool they cant sell to new customer. $565 in new parts

Response:

In response to [redacted] concerns; we sent our technician out to the customer's home to check his refrigerator for an issue with the freezer not freezing. Before the appointment was confirmed with the customer our customer service rep quoted our charges to the customer. He was advised that our trip charge for coming to the home was $7 9.95 plus any parts and labor would be additional. The technician determined that the refrigerator had a sealed system issue. He advised the customer of the estimate for parts and labor. However Whirlpool did cover cost of sealed system parts. Which meant customer was responsible for labor. The labor price was $475.00 which was discounted down to $375.00 no matter what parts were installed or whether the time spent was one hour or more (our hourly rate is $185.00 per hour). The technician did spend 3.5 hours at customers home and explained the repairs to him and also went over the invoice with the customer he approved and signed the invoice. If the technician charged the customer hourly his bill would have been $647.50 plus $79.95. The customer was advised that they would have a one year warranty on the sealed system. The refrigerator has been repaired for the sealed system issue with no issues. The customer did call back and say his ice maker was not working, we did advise him that the ice maker had nothing to do with the repair that was done and would have to be checked. Our technician would not have turned off the ice maker as it is not necessary to turn it off for a sealed system repair. The customer just turned it on. The parts that were ordered were sent back to the distributor for [redacted] Also please be aware that we at Jersey Appliance do not miss appointments or pull a "no show". Unfortunately my technician did run late due to unforeseen issues on calls prior to [redacted] appointment. Please be aware we did have to wait for the correct parts from [redacted] which were delayed. [redacted] refrigerator was fixed correctly and feel no refund is due.
