Jesse James Carpentry Reviews (6)

I hired Jesse James Carpentry to do some extensive work at my place of work From a FULL professional kitchen remodel to building emergency exit ramps (wood and concrete) to flooring and minor inside remodels His pricing was fair, work was done timely, and the final product was great! I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a fair and talented carpenter

We had Jesse James Carpentry LLC come to our house and build a front deck it came out great and gave us awesome curb appeal After we moved out of the area we had him go back to take care of some insurance requests due to renting Great price, quick response and he's on speed dial for us now in case anything happens at our rental property! Highly recommend

We had used Jesse L[redacted] for small projects, so we decided to use him for our porch/deck project. The initial start date was to be in the beginning of August and started 3 weeks late. This contractor is over-extended and has a serious problem with time management. Despite the delays in getting started, he never stayed later than 4 pm and never worked weekends. I often heard things like "I need to coach my son's soccer team", or "I have to pick up my kids". We heard every excuse in the book as to why he could not make it out. If we ever challenged him on why he was not showing up, he threw it back on us saying that "other people needed their jobs done, too" or "what am I supposed to do leave their job". Everything we were quoted was "2 weeks". He obviously has no concept of time because the weeks turned into months. When he showed up for a check, we would see a little more action (an by little I mean an hour or two here or there). Orders for product were rushed and often wrong. In an attempt to help move things along, I found myself on the phone with the store where the product was purchased trying to correct a sloppy order when the contractor should have been doing this. Weeks after the product was delivered, I received a call asking me to choose a color (which we had already done and emailed with the original product order). Now, we are forced to wait another "2 weeks" (the magical number) for the correct product to arrive. Our 2 week project was extended even more.
Subs were often not informed as to what needed to be done. They would wait for direction for Jesse or mull around do little things until he showed up. The job site had trash everywhere, which my husband and I would pick up on weekends and dispose of on our own. Cigarette butts littered our backyard. When we approached Jesse about this, he replied "Well, who do you think that was." pointing to one of his subs. He never took control of the situation and expected us to handle it. Jesse often complained about not being able to find good help or that some of the help he did have only worked when they wanted to buy beer.
One day I left to run some errands and Jesse entered my home without permission through an interior garage door that was accidentally left unlocked. He knew he was not to go into the house and knew that we had a dog that might bite. He had my cell phone but never called until after he set off the security alarm. I had to give him the alarm code (which we later changed), to turn off the alarm so that our pets would not be further traumatized by the alarm noise.
When it was time to work on the covered area over our hottub, Jesse never asked for specs. He seriously under estimated the height of the tub and in order to get into the hot tub we would have had to duck down and squeeze under. Seeing how this would not work, we scrapped that portion of the project. Jesse still charged us the full amount that he quoted despite the fact that that cost was eliminated for labor and materials. In fact at the end, he tried to charge us an additional $500. His excuse was that it took longer and he used more labor. The day Jesse showed up to collect the last check (despite the fact that he was not completely finished), we noticed he added photos of our project without our permission. We told him to remove the photos, which he did, only to have them show up on his webpage at a later date - completely disregarding our right to privacy. Jesse was supposed to send subs over to complete a few jobs. We had asked that the polymer trim be one solid piece and were assured it would be. However, after we refused to pay the overage, the rest of the work was shoddy and rushed. To date, Jesse has not completed tasks like staining our beams, touch-up paint work and fixing items that were broken.
