explanation of repairs

To whom it may concern, This is Bradham Automotive formal response to claim #*** *** brought his vehicle, *** ***, to us after multiple repair shops were not able to fix or even determine the cause of his complaintHis original complaint at vehicle check in was as follows;
“CUSTOMER STATES ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ON DISPLAY, MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS COME ONCUSTOMER STATES A/C BLOWS HOT AIR WHEN LIGHTS ARE ONCUSTOMER STATES ALTERNATOR HAS BEEN REPLACED FUSIBLE LINK HAS BEEN REPLACEDBATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED YEAR AGO. Due to the fact that other shops had attempted to fix this problem to no avail, and that there were multiple systems being affected, we informed *** *** that we would start with our level diagnostic ($and covers hours of diagnostic trouble shooting))He was also informed that if we needed more time to diagnose his complaint we would call him before proceeding any furtherHe agreed and signed the work orderThe service team dispatched the ticket to Martin N***He is one of four ASE Master Technicians we have employed here at Braham’sAfter hours of trouble shooting our technician reported back to the service desk that more diagnostic time was needed in order to determine the solutionA call was placed to *** *** at 8:48am on the morning of 5/31/We received a call back at 10:45amAt that point one of our service writers, Juan D***, went over what we had found so far and informed *** *** of the additional diagnostic time needed ($for more hour of diagnostic time)*** *** approved the time and we proceeded forward Our ABS diagnostic finding was as follows*** *** has a faulty ABS control unit causing his warning lights to illuminateThe module has an internal failure that will not allow it to communicate with the rest of the components in the Brake systemDue to that issue we are not able to determine with one hundred percent certainty that there is not another faulty component that systemThese systems have a fixed trouble shooting flow chartWe reached a point in the diagnostics where this module failed its tests. We cannot proceed further after this pointThis diagnostic also included a help line call to *** in order to verify the proper communication voltages in ensure the controller area network was functioning properlyWe feel extremely confident that this will solve his issue but we also do not want to set an expectation and have something out of our control upset a customer*** *** also wanted us to diagnose his air conditioning systemThis diagnostic charge was included in the first level diagnosticWe performed our initial A/C diagnostic check; A/C DIAGNOSTIC TEST, PERFORM SERVICE BAY TEST TO DUPLICATE CUSTOMERS COMPLAINTTEST FOR PRESENCE EPOXY SEALERTEST SYSTEM FOR PROPER REFRIGERANTCONNECT A/C GAUGES AND VERIFY PROPER PRESSURE READINGSPERFORM VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE SYSTEMS MECHANICAL COMPONENTS.FURTHER TEST MAY NEED TO BE PERFORMED IN ORDER TO FULLY DIAGNOSE THE SYSTEM FAULTAfter initial inspection the technician found no power signal to A/C compressor. MrN*** then applied power to ensure compressor would function if engagedThe compressor clutch engaged but no pressure differential was detectedAt this point we knew that there was some internal failure within the compressorWe are not sure exactly what that failure is but the compressor needs to be removed in order to determine the exact failureWe believe it is a possible broken shaft in the compressor this could also cause the no power at compressor issue (No RPM signal to powertrain control module) Due to the fact that we can get no pressure change it is very hard for us to determine if the other components in the A/C system will function properly after compressor is replacedAfter the diagnostics were performed our technician performed a complementary courtesy check on the vehicle (free service)All vehicles that are presented for repairs, maintenance, or inspections get this checkWe want to educate our customers on the overall heath and reliability of their vehiclesOur technician then returned the paperwork with a list of repairs needed to resolve the customers’ original complaint and a list of recommended repairs and preventive maintenance suggestionsAn estimate was created and the customer called, 3:45pm 6/1/16, to review our findingsJuan D*** reviewed the estimate with *** ***He declined any repairs to the vehicle at this timeWe also strongly urged him to not perform any repairs due to the overall condition of the vehicleHis requested repair cost was going to be $In addition to safety and maintenance related items needed that required an additional $Please see attached Repair Order and additional paper work. We understand that *** *** feels like we did not give him the answers he was looking forFor that I do apologizeIn cases like this, it is extremely hard to say that this will fix his vehicle entirelyI believe this is his biggest concernWe did charge *** *** for four hours of diagnostic laborOur technician had over six hours of time investedIt seems as though everyone involved feels like they have lost out on this transactionPlease feel free to contact me at any timeJohn C*** Vice President Bradham Automotive ###-###-####

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered] Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: The information in the detailed response by MrC*** is pretty much in line with the information I had been given by his service team - Juan and Josh. I am not questioning the qualifications of the service technicians, nor am I questioning the fact that they did spend time trying to diagnose my car's electrical problem. My problem, and the reason for my complaint, is that I have paid almost $with no resolution of the problem or a proposed set of repairs that will definitively fix the problem. The fact that they recommend that I not perform any of their proposed repairs to my car seems to me to be beside the point of my complaint, I am still out $
At the time that I was communicating with Juan and Josh following their assessment, I had told them that I understood the need for the initial $Level diagnostic check, but it was the second $diagnosis that I had a problem with. Although I am not an automotive repair technician, I understand that a problem like this takes a certain amount of time and effort to diagnose, which is why I was comfortable paying for the first $diagnostic check. When I offered to pay for the first $diagnostic check, but not the second, I was told that I would need to pay the full $in order to get my car back. I am willing to extend this same offer again as a way of closing this complaint.
In his response, MrC*** did not specifically state his reply to my request for a full refund. I would be willing to consider this matter closed and the complaint resolved if I am refunded the cost of the second diagnosis which I believe was $
