J.Hensley Services, LLC Reviews (3)

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me I will consider this complaint resolved Regards, [redacted]

I had several discussions with Mr. [redacted], both by email and telephone. On Jan 19 he confirmed his...

order with a deposit of $835, which I received a few days later.
Following this he was quite indecisive about what he wanted. First it was a EBONY model, priced $2,500. Later he talked about buying a deluxe model priced $7,500. He finally settled on the less expensive model. which is all his deposit of $835 qualified for.
My exchange or return guarantee only applies to the BERG models. It works like this I supply a bow just as it turns out,in terms of weight and balance etc. If they don't find it suitable they can ask for another one, and specify some changes, that I will try to meet in a replacement bow, and then they have the option of requesting a refund (minus my shipping charge) should they not like that one. If at any stage before I make the first bow, a client makes a specific request for a particular weight or balance they no longer qualify for the guarantee. This is because it takes a lot more work to make it exactly the weight they want , for example. This is stated in the notes on PURCHASE on my web site.
I actually molded three sticks for Mr. [redacted]'s order. Even at that stage I was planning to mold a 4th stick to be able to make a bow weigh 70 grams instead of 69 grams, but before doing so I checked with Mr. [redacted], but he instructed me to use stick number three and aim for 69 grams. So I crafted a 69 gram viola bow for him. On Feb 17 he wrote a check for the balance of $1665 and mailed it to me. I received it a few days later. As always I held this check and did not deposit it until I received word that he was definitely keeping the bow. When his email dated Feb 24 arrived (copy enclosed) I went ahead and deposited it. At this stage he had bought the bow. After this very positive and clear email he did a face about turn and mailed the bow back to me, which I reasonably refused, for reasons that I trust I have made very clear. In a business like mine there have to be mitigating circumstances with respect to honoring a guarantee.
If you consult the many rave endorsements by some of the world's greatest string players you will conclude that I have an excellent reputation.
One thing that Mr. [redacted] said that troubles me greatly is that he says the bow that I crafted for him is nearer 71 grams in weight, implying that I did not deliver what he wanted.  Now I was formerly a scientist on faculty at Indiana University so I know how to weigh things accurately.  I have a sensitive triple beam balance, and his bow was definitely 69 grams.  Why would he try and make me out a dishonest person?
I have tried to present the framwork of our negotiations clearly and honestly.  Should you need further details may I request that you phone me, as it is kinder on my time.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
