Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below My response: Your response has many statements that are not true I will only address a couple "We priced her the battery at $for the battery plus Labor at which totaled plus tax" This is not the price that I was told nor was my co-worker You did not inform me of the labor charge until AFTER my car was pushed outside I instructed Jiffy to place the battery in the trunk, stating that there was no need to hook it back up since [redacted] will be replacing it If a labor charge to unscrew a couple of bolts is $50, I could have unscrewed the bolts myself Also, you stated the battery was not in; "...which I did not stock and would need to get it from another vendor." With minutes left until closing, it's amazing how quickly the battery was obtained from another vendor in the middle of a snow storm You stated, "Our Manger was looking up the price of the battery and the labor to replace itHer Lincoln has the battery mounted in the truck which takes a AGM battery which I did not stock and would need to get it from another vendor." I did not return to your establishment Why would I? Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
My response:

Your response has many statements that are not true.  I will only address a couple.
"We priced her the battery at $166.15 for the battery plus Labor at 53.15 which totaled 219.30 plus tax"  This is not the price that I was told nor was my co-worker.  You did not inform me of the labor charge until AFTER my car was pushed outside.  I instructed Jiffy to place the battery in the trunk, stating that there was no need to hook it back up since [redacted] will be replacing it.  If a labor charge to unscrew a couple of bolts is $50, I could have unscrewed the bolts myself.  Also, you stated the battery was not in; "...which I did not stock and would need to get it from another vendor."  With 10 minutes left until closing, it's amazing how quickly the battery was obtained from another vendor in the middle of a snow storm.  You stated, "Our Manger was looking up the price of the battery and the labor to replace it. Her 2003 Lincoln has the battery mounted in the truck which takes a AGM battery which I did not stock and would need to get it from another vendor."

I did not return to your establishment.  Why would I?  I went to another establishment, who also informed me that my problem was NOT my battery but something else.  This is the same information that [redacted], who test the battery 3x, informed me of; which I informed you.  And despite you being in business for the number of years you stated, doesn't mean you are correct with your business practices.  Many people before us put butter on a burn years before our existence, only to find out that's not the correct way you treat a burn.   Go figure.

In closing, I will say in advance; I will not respond to additional responses from Jiffy.  I have moved on.

On January 28,2014 Ms [redacted] called our shop about 2:30 pm and said that her car would not start and had asked if we could look at her car if it was towed in. About 4:25 the car arrived at our shop on a rollback type wrecker. The driver unloaded the car in our fourth...

bay, Ms [redacted] had rode with the tow truck driver. I advised her that we did closed at 5:00 but we would looked at her car ASAP. One of our technician tried to start the car and the engine turned over very slow which indicated that there was a problem with the battery. We tested the battery with a Interstate battery tester ED-18 early detection analyzer, which gave us a print out [which we showed Ms [redacted] ] that the battery was weak and recommended that the battery be replaced. I also told her that the Security was flashing which on that car could have additional issues. She stated that she had the battery tested before and stated that the battery was good. We told her that the voltage of the battery was to low at the time the car was towed in to start the car. I personally used a jump box and started the car. I then told Ms [redacted] that we recommended a battery replacement. Our Manger was looking up the price of the battery and the labor to replace it. Her 2003 Lincoln has the battery mounted in the truck which takes a AGM battery which I did not stock and would need to get it from another vendor. We priced her the battery at $166.15 for the battery plus Labor at 53.15 which totaled 219.30 plus tax. We told Ms [redacted] that we recommended that the battery be replaced and then look at the security light but that low voltage could cause the issue with the security, we would not know until we installed the new battery. AT that time she authorized us the install the battery. She did state that the price was too high, I explained to her that the battery was a special battery that was mounted in the trunk and was more difficult to change than a battery under the hood of other car. I had three Technicians work on the car including myself because it was 4:50 and we did close at 5:00 and it was snowing.
After removing the battery from her car my manager came out in the shop and told us that she had decided that she was going to have [redacted] come and install a battery at cheaper cost. I went to the waiting area and advised her that if I had to put her old battery back in that she would need to pay the labor for what we had done, which was the same if I was installing a new battery. Ms [redacted] agreed and we put her old battery back in the truck and secured it in the proper holder as we were doing that we put a charger on the battery to insure the car would start. When we were done the went to start the car and it would not start up, I felt there was also an issue with the security system on the car as well. I advised her of the issue and she told us the push the car outside and that [redacted] was coming. We then closed up the shop I told Ms [redacted] that she could sit in our waiting area until the tow truck came and that I would stay there with her. The snow was coming down harder and I wanted my employees home with their family not on the road at that time. She elected to go sit in her car, which within a couple minutes a car pulled up which I assume was some friends of her. She got in the friends car, at which time I felt she was not left in the cold waiting on [redacted].
I do not feel that we at Jiffy Automotive Inc. overcharged Ms [redacted] for anything. We normally charge for testing of the battery which we did not in her case, It was late in the day when her car arrived at our shop I feel think we did everything we could to try and help her. AT that time of day we normally do not take any work in because it closed to the time we close. Our employees are paid a salary not hourly so they do not get paid overtime, It’s hard to asked them to work after 5pm. In this case they did even though there was a snow storm and they needed to get home. I have not heard from Ms [redacted] since she was in our shop on the 28th of January. I have been the owner and President of Jiffy Automotive Service Inc. since 1996 and have been employed here since 1987. To run a successful busy we need to be paid for the time we spent working on cars. We would not stay in business very long if we did not get paid for work that we do on vehicles. I am sorry that she was unhappy with the event that happened that day. I feel she was treated with the respect that we treat all our customers.

Review: During the snow storm on 1/28/14, my vehicle was towed to Jiffy by [redacted] roadside service. [redacted] technicians tested my battery 2x, informing me that my battery test good and was not the problem. Jiffy informed me my battery was dead. I informed Jiffy the battery was tested twice by 2 different [redacted] technicians and both stated the battery test fine and was not the problem. Jiffy disagreed, informing me the battery had no charge. They informed me I needed a new battery and I needed to decide if I wanted them to install a new battery. I informed Jiffy again of the report from [redacted]. The owner entered, stating I needed a battery and they would install it if I decided to purchase a battery but I needed to decide because they "close in 20 minutes." Jiffy told me the price would be $250.00 plus tax for the battery. I thought that was a bit much for a battery but needing my car and Jiffy reiterating closing time, I instructed Jiffy to install a new battery. I contacted [redacted] in the process to compare prices and was offered a lower price, $159.00 delivered and installed. I immediately informed the sales person that did not want the battery; I would have [redacted] install the battery. The owner returned, stating he had uninstall the battery. I informed him I did not want to purchase a battery anymore. He stated he had taken the battery out and would have to put it back in. I informed him not to re-install the battery but place it in the trunk. He then stated he would charge me for labor. I asked him what did he do for a labor charge. He stated he tested the battery and took it out. He charged $56.51 for "charging" a battery that was not dead and unscrewing bolts to a battery, all which took about 10 minutes. I later found out the labor time and charge for replacing a battery is $45.00 for 30 minutes labor. Upon contacting other retailers and auto services, all stating the price to install a battery was outrageous. My battery is located in the truck. I have an Lincoln LS. All other retailers and auto services informed me the battery still should have not been $250.00+.Desired Settlement: I would like for Jiffy to verify and explain the high price for the battery to Revdex.com; in addition the labor charge for uninstalling a battery. Also, I would like to inform Revdex.com my car was towed to another business with the business informing me that my problem was not my battery. They identified my problem and I am driving my car, with the Same Battery.

Response:

Regards,

*. [redacted]
