Husband was charged for an oil pan repair on his car after this business accidentally put in the wrong plug size, causing the pan to be stripped and oil to leak. Gave us 10% off the charge which does not seem fair.

Jiffy Lube Service Center Response • Aug 18, 2018

Customers had a sever oil leak coming from the drain pan. After inspecting the vehicle and providing the customer with a estimate that the customer looked over and then signed the estimate to approve us to do the work. We have all documentation and the original signed estimate of the customer approving us to do the work.

I am rejecting this response because:

As I had discussed with the manager, we were told it was advised NOT to drive the car in it’s current state and my husband lives an hour away from this location, giving us no other option but to get it fixed. The leak was CAUSED by the staff placing the wrong plug. I would like copies of documentation.

Mr. [redacted] did file a complaint with Jiffy Lube International and with us. I responded to him immediately as the claims were very serious. I myself looked up the brake rotor specs on All Data. I was able to confirm that the technician gave the wrong specs as the minimum. I spoke with the tech and...

he said he just made a mistake and that he was not trying to be deceptive. I also had the manager have an after hours class for his brake and inspection technicians to insure they all understood how to use the resource. I did not see his wiper blades and so it is difficult for me to say what the condition was. The blades do not have to be torn to fail however the customer states that he was told they were torn. Again its hard for me to say as I was not able to see them before the customer replaced them.   The oil being low is a condition we check at the beginning of every service so we can note it on the invoice. This is done to help us and the customer be aware of any unusual oil consumption. If that was inaccurate I can not say.  I had the manager also address the wipers and the oil level at his meeting as well. I do not believe that any of the techs did anything to try and mislead or be deceptive toward Mr. [redacted]. I will continue to train and watch this and every store to ensure that the proper procedures are being followed. I will also review how to use All Data during my visits with this and all other stores.

Review: I went to Jiffy Lube on 9/16/2015 for only an oil change. Next thing I know my tires are off of my vehicle and there's multiple people included an unauthorized female friend of a worker of Jiffy Lube working on my vehicle. I was there an hour for an oil change which is all I wanted however the workers insisted they wanted a thorough check of my vehicle for me. When I noticed my tires were off they gave me a free tire rotation because I did not consent to everything in my vehicle being tampered with. I left the shop aggravated because I was there for a hour and felt they did more work than I trusted them with. My car broke down a street away from the business and would not start and kept stalling. I called the business and they sent an employee to look at my vehicle. He insisted I bring it back to the shop so they can "make sure they put everything back in place properly" and told me Jiffy Lube will pay for the tow. We got to the business and I had to pay for the tow which was never agreed upon, however they stated they'll reimburse me, which they never did. The total of that was $59.76. They diagnosed a fuel pump issue which totaled cost around $1000 but I did not trust them that that was an issue because my 2009 [redacted] Altima has absolutely no issues or signs of issues in the past. I then had another shop pick up my car via Tow truck and give me a second opinion. They looked and stated I do not need a fuel pump. I needed a new Mass Air Sensor because the current one was "cleaned off with brake cleaner" causing it to stop working. I paid $364.75 to then fix my vehicle at this second shop. My vehicle now runs perfectly now it did before. I contacted the owner of Jiffy Lube, Charles. He stated unless I saw the employees clean off the sensor which "they would never do" he is not refunding me for the damages done intentionally, conclusively during the oil change. Charles insists this is a coincidence and can happen all the time on vehicles and I should google how the sensors do eventually die out on cars on their own. I reminded him it was cleaned not short fused and he insisted anyone could have done that although the there is a 2 minute time lapse since I left the garage and made it only to [redacted] Street in [redacted]. My vehicle had absolutely no issues including any alarming issues that would make me feel this happened naturally. No one is taking responsibility for a negligent error that could be forgiven if all costs for towing as well as repairs are reimbursed.Desired Settlement: I would like the $59.76 from me towing my vehicle back to Jiffy Lube after they damaged a sensor in my vehicle as well as the $364.75 reimbursed for the cost of damages.

I visited this location on sept. 2,2015. I went in for a routine oil change. When I left there I was at a drive-thru, and my car shutoff. I figured it was just a fluke, so I didn't really worry about it. The next day it shutoff again twice, so I brought it in the next day to have them check the transmission fluid. They did this outside I did not bring my car in.They tested the battery and said it was a little low, then they tested the alternator and said that was reading 1370, he said it was suppose to read 1400. So I asked him if it was the battery or alternator and he said he wasn't sure, but would start with the alternator of course;. He told mr it would cost about 300.00 dollars for the job,but said they would call me when they included tax and what not. I waited 2 days for them to call before I called them back. The fill-in manager said it would be 1100.00 dollars!!!!! I asked what he was talking about, he said this estimate was not done by him,and had no idea who did it, but agreed it was insane. I told himiwas gonna go someware else and call corporate he said do what you have to. No remorse, he did not say come in and wen will check the car, since no-one didthismakes no sense at all!! Poorly run, stay away.
