Fraudulent income reported on credit application. I was approached by a car salesman from Mitchell Toyota in San Angelo TX about possibly refinancing a vehicle that my brother had in his name. He was behind on the payments and was going to lose the vehicle. I told the car salesman that it would not go through as I was unemployed at the time and was receiving unemployment benefits. He laughed and said the had his ways. Well, apparently he did because he lied about my monthly income on the credit app and instead of financing one pickup he somehow managed to add 3 more to the mix adding up to over [redacted] dollars.

I have a complaint about both the customer service experience and as well as the quality of service of Jiffy Lube. As the invoice entails, I had my car dropped of for service on Monday, May 04,2015 for a head gasket repair. Once I got there I was quoted a price of approx. $1600 and that the total time for repair would be approx 4-5 business days. On the expected day of completed work I was told that the pressure test determined that the head gasket was warped and that a new one would be needed. This message was communicated on the due date of service and not one phone call was made prior to let me know that there would be a delay in picking up my vehicle. Not only was there a delay but I was told that I would need 4 spark plugs because the ones previously were soaked in oil and would require an additional $1000. Weeks went past before I had heard any update from Jiffy Lube. Once I had called the only update was that the product that was ordered from an outside vendor was not functional. So they had to order the part 3 times which took 3-5 business days for shipping before they got a reliable working one. This is hard to believe that you all are doing business with a company who doesn't supply working parts 67% of the time. Even still, once they got a part that was working there's still a probability that the one received is not reliable. In all, it took approx. 1 month for my vehicle to be serviced. Upon picking up my vehicle, I proceeded to shift the shifting gear into drive and it would not move. I relayed the information to the mechanic on duty and he suggested that I use a screwdriver and insert it into a slot on the shifting gear each time I wanted to shift gears because they have been known to fail sometimes. Are you serious? In total, I have spent over $2500 and I have additional problems than I went in with. The service at this location has been extremely unprofessional and I am convinced that the technicians are not properly trained in customer service, let alone in the area of expertise. While driving home, my brother was following me and noticed that when I applied pressure to the brake pedal that my brake lights were not turning on. Another issue! Review: On Thursday, August 22, 2013 at approximately 9:20am I pulled into the bay at the Jiffy Lube in [redacted] Maryland for an oil change. Approximately eight minutes later, while setting in the waiting area, I was given a report on conditions paper. At approximately 9:40am I was informed by the cashier, [redacted], that the mechanic was having trouble getting the oil pan screw out. [redacted] asked if I had run over anything because there was a dent in the oil pan. I explained to [redacted] that I am the only driver for my truck and I did not run over anything. She explained that if they could not get the screw out that they would push the truck next door and have another mechanic try to get it out. Approximately 9:50am my vehicle was pushed into the bay next door. At approximately 10:00am I was informed by the original mechanic that they could not get the screw out because the threads on the screw were stripped. The mechanic explained the screw would only turn but not tighten nor loosen. The screw was loose enough for the oil to drain but would not come completely out. The mechanic said it would be $100.00 (one hundred dollars) to fix. I informed the mechanic that my previous oil changes were completed at that location so I wasn’t clear on how that could of happened. The mechanic said it looked like you may have run over something. I explained to him that I am the only driver of my truck and that I did not run over anything. I did not agree to pay the $100.00 (one hundred dollars). The mechanic explained that they would try to get the screw out. After about ten minutes I asked [redacted] if she knew how long it would take because I had to take my son back to college. [redacted] said it would take a while because they had to drill the screw out a little at a time. I explained to [redacted] that I would have someone pick us up but I would not be back before they closed at 6:00pm. I told her I would be back in the morning. I left Jiffy Lube at approximately 11:15am. At 12:21pm I received a call from [redacted], saying that they got the screw out but that there was a crack in the pan and that the pan had to be replaced. I explained to [redacted] that I didn’t understand how it went from a striped screw to a crack to now a new oil pan. I asked to speak to the manager to get a better understanding. I spoke with the general manager, [redacted], about the situation. I explained to [redacted] that my previous oil changes were completed at that location and that my vehicle was not leaking when I brought it in this morning. [redacted] informed me that there was a crack approximately 0.5inches long in the upper left corner of the hole where the screw goes and that the screw threads were not stripped. [redacted] also informed me that he was aware that my vehicle was not leaking but was not sure what had happen to the oil pan. While on the phone, I asked [redacted] if there were any other damages to the oil pan besides the crack that was near the whole for the screw. [redacted] replied no. I asked [redacted] how could I run over something but the only thing to get damage was an half of inch crack near the whole which where the screw in and washer are. [redacted] replied that he did not know what had happen but maybe it was wear and tear. [redacted] explained that I would need a new oil pan that it would be $400.00 (four hundred dollars). [redacted] also explained that if the oil was leaking when I first brought it in and/or if he knew all this was going to happen they wouldn’t have touched the vehicle. The $400.00 charge was a deal because [redacted] said it’s usually $700.00-$800.00 to replace an oil pan. I informed [redacted] that I would have a certified mechanic from Department of Public works come look at it. At 5:40pm I received a call from the certified DPW worker who explained to me that it looked like the mechanic may have used an air ratchet instead of a hand ratchet to tighten the screw on my previous oil chain. By doing so it stripped the screw, tore the thread and left a crack from the power of the air ratchet. Once I got off the phone with the DPW worker I tried to call the shop back but there was no answer.Desired Settlement: I would like:

1. any repairs Jiffy Lube may have caused fixed

2. oil pan replaced with a new oil pan,

3. five year warranty on my oil pan

4. free oil changes for five years

Response:

It has been determined upon further inspection of the vehicle that the welded steel insert, inside the oil pan has come loose. It is currently laying inside the bottom of the oil pan with the remainder of the plug.

This part of the oil pan is inside and cannot be touched by anyone. After 14 years of service 250,000 miles of driving and 50-70 oil changes it has worn out and broken away from the oil pan. When the technician attempted to loosen the oil plug to perform the service requested it simply spun. At the time there was no way to determine what the issue was since the plug was still in the pan, leaking no one could see inside. After [redacted] (the Team Leader on duty) was instructed on the phone by someone representing **. [redacted] to “get the old plug out and put a temp plug in so she can get out of there”.

We attempted to do just that. During this process the head of the oil plug broke off. This left and exposed hole

that had deteriorating aluminum and a visible crack. Upon installation of the temp plug it was discovered that oil was still leaking. Once this attempt to make the vehicle drive-able failed I started looking into replacement parts. I

offered to do the complete job for $400.00 this repair was denied on Fri 8/23/13 the vehicle has been sitting since then with no oil and no oil drain plug. On 8/26/13 while at a parts store I noticed a different style temp plug that I thought might work. I purchased the plug and tried to install it. At this time in noticed something in the bottom of the oil pan. I used a magnet to pull as much of it through the hole as possible. This is when I discovered that the welded

insert had come loose. This is something beyond anyone’s control or ability to foresee since it is inside the oil pan. Had we known the weld was loose and could break at any time we would not have touched it and informed the customer, however that is impossible. This part has simply worn out, it lasted 250,000 miles. It is not fair to simply blame the last person who touched it.

The estimate for repairs is as follows: Oil Pan 159$, Oil Pan Gasket $40, Labor 4 hrs@ $90 per hour 360$ oil and filter change 49$ required supplies gasket adhesive, parts solvent, thread sealer 24$ and sales tax 12$ Total=644$ I offered to do it for 400$(12month/12,000 mile warranty). I will still honor this offer if desired out of customer goodwill even though we are not at fault.

Jeep will not warranty this part for 250,000 miles nor will the parts manufacturer. I do not understand why Jiffy Lube should warranty it for that long. We did not sell it or make it. As I told **. [redacted] Jiffy lube does not use Air ratchets to install oil plugs. We never have and never will. I would be glad to show her or anyone else around the shop if desired.

You have my response and offer of repair.

Sincerely,

Review: Went to the [redacted] Jiffy Lube's sister shop, [redacted], because the Check Engine Light in my car was lit. A poster in the waiting room indicated that [redacted] specializes in fixing such a problem. That was a lie. I had to sign off on $100 diagnostic test before they would do anything. Instead of actually performing the check (see [redacted] for how such a check is supposed to be accomplished), they took an iniial reading that took less than a miinute of their time and then told me I needed to pay an additional $1500 to have the car fixed. I knew that they could not have come to such a conclusion with nothing but a cursory check (at best), so I took the car to another shop where the problem was resolved for free. [redacted] refused to refund my $100 even after I contacted the franchise owner which also owns the [redacted] Jiffy Lube shop.
