employees used nails on roof and damaged underside paint job. also employees handled shingle bundles carelessly and damaged covers.

Jim Brown and Sons is a great roofing company and one of the most honest and ethical businesses that I've had the pleasure of working with. I have referred them to friends and clients and the experience has always been better than could have been imagined. This business is an industry leader and have always been fair, honest and ethical in every situation that I have experienced with them.

Brown and Sons installed guttering on our residence. The installation was totally unacceptable as the water flowed backwards in gutters and sat in the gutters at least one inch. Mr. [redacted] said his customers were more interested in appearance than flow, and the water would eventually evaporate. After much unsatisfactory correspondence with him, he finally agreed to a redo which also turned out to be unsatisfactory because of the holes and bent/scraped drip edge damage his installers left. His installers were also supposed to repair a leak in a previously installed gutter which they did by putting globs of caulking all along the guttering and scraping some of the roofing paper off. They left the scrapings in the guttering which I had to clean out. We were advised by the Arizona registrar of contractors not to pay until the work was acceptable. This led to an issuance of a pre-lien notice to us. We in turn filed a formal complaint with the ROC. Their inspector inspected the job and issued a corrective work order. Trying to work with this company was a nightmare, and guess what. When the first big rain came, the downspout leaked so badly at the elbow that we had a pond at the house footing. I elected to fix that myself rather than try working with Mr. [redacted] again.

I was extremely disappointed with Jim Brown & Sons Roofing Company. I contracted with them to install gutters around my home. It took numerous trips for them to complete the project and often called with less than 24 hour notice of when they wanted to work. The most concerning was their billing and payment practices. I was never left with copies of the "contracts" I signed and then when I requested the contracts be mailed to me to clarify some billing issues I was sent a threatening letter stating that if I did not pay in full I would be sent to collections and lien would be placed on my home. I never refused to pay any portion of my bill/account, I was just looking for clarification and a copy of the contracts that supposedly I signed. I left phone messages, but was never called back.

We were in a pickle with my father-in-law's roof and insurance. Jim Brown & Sons had done the roof 25 years ago and my father-in-law still had the paperwork. We needed fast response and help. We were treated as if we were family and given such priority. I don't expect that from any company, unless the deadlines call for it. We were looking at dad's insurance be cancelled within 1.5 weeks. Not only did they help us out, they got what the insurance needed done to the roof to reinstate the policy...2 days before the cancellation date. They have a loyal customer with me and my father-in-law's extended family.

Jim Brown & Sons Roofing Company is the best in town! A few years back we used them to fix/replace a part of our roof damaged in a hail storm. They were timely, priced fairly, and so professional! This year we had some other problems and called them back. We have been treated like royalty and couldn't say enough things about the service and repair. In the years that separated the 2 calls for service, we have recommended them to many people. All the people we know that have used them, have been more than satisfied with every step of their roofing experience. Thank you everyone at Jim Brown & Sons! You are an exceptional business!

A little over a year ago I had Jim Brown and Sons Roofing Company come over to give me an estimate on replacing some cracked and broken clay tiles on the roof. When the estimator came over she suggested to also have the flat roof resealed. I have signed the contract with them for the suggested work and they came over and according to them completed the job, i.e. replace the roof tiles and seal the all the flat roof portions. I have paid them when they said they completed the job.

However, a few months ago I was walking around the house and have observed that that the roof tile they were replacing above the garage door did not have mortar in between like the rest of them. I have called them to come back and to give me an estimate on replacing some other cracked tile. When the estimator came over he checked the roof and he asked who did the work before. I told them that it was them and he said that they did not complete everything but they will come over and complete it because it was still within one year warranty period.

When the second person from Jim Brown arrived he went on the roof and said that he cannot do it because he did not have the proper equipment. At that point I have climbed up the roof and checked it myself and have almost felt off the leather because all the tiles were randomly scattered on the roof.

It took seven visits from the company to finally finish the job that I have paid them to do. And that was because the house was for sale and when the home inspector pointed out that some of the flat portions of the roof were not even sealed.

Most of their roofers were not competent or they were just trying to take an advantage of me for not climbing on the roof and checking their work when they have said they have completed it.

Review: I had call jim brown and sons to get and estimate on installing rain gutters on my residence. I was given the cost ($914 plus tax), time frame (5 weeks out) and time needed to complete the job (less than a day). The date and time given me by their office was 5/18/15 between 11 am - 1 pm. On the day of the install my wife calls me @145 pm informing me that no one has shown up. After calling their office the workers arrive @2 pm. They start to work but leave @3 pm without completing the job. They inform my wife they will be back tomorrow morning, which they did show up as promised. Unfortunately for us they ran out of material and needed their office to order more. Again, without completing the job. I waited a few days expecting a call to let me know when the material would be in and when they would be back out to complete the job. This did not happen. I made several attempts to contact my sales rep, even leaving a voice mail, with no response. I finally call their office and I am told the superintendent would contact me. He did, and informed me his contractor was out sick and was not sure when he would be back and able to finish the job. A few hours later, before I could speak with my wife, she calls me and tells me that the job is done.

My biggest frustration with this company is their lack of communication and organization. Because of this, I am had to initiate all the conversation to coordinate and complete this work. The additional problem is my wife had to take 2 extra days off work. I tried to work out this situation with Jim Brown and sons and when ask what I was thinking of as a resolution, I ask that they discount the price the cost of the 2 lost vacation days. $22 per hour X 14 hours = $308 (made it an even $300). I also offered proof of the hourly pay so they would know I was not making up a number. They would not do this and would only go 10%. This is not even $100. This is a far reach from all the inconvenience and the loss of 2 vacation days because of their negligence. Respectfully, [redacted]
