Review: Purchased car with auto start. Sent someone to home to install from dealership, they could not install one week after purchase. The tech could not install three weeks later took car for install. They installed auto start and had to put key in dash. Lose of key was never disclosed to me and I would not have purchased car if this was the only method of installing auto start. Loose of security features being key is mounted in car.

No signed documents stating I would loose a key to a new car!! I own another car with push button start and auto start installed, which I have the original keys.

Three options to resolve this dispute/compliant

1. Need auto start put into car for price paid where I have two keys to new car.

2. Take care back for full purchase price.

3. Provide me with a 2nd key fully functional.Desired Settlement: Three options to resolve this dispute/compliant

Review: My oil was changed on my 2012 Kia Optima at Jim Curley Kia Dealership, Lakewood NJ.

On Friday, February 27 in the morning, I picked up my car.

On Saturday, February 28, at 8:15 am I was driving to work on the Garden State Parkway at 65mph and my car stalled.

I took the car to the shoulder and it would not restart.

My car was towed to Jim Curley Kia.

On Monday March 2nd, the Service Supervisor from Kia called me and told me that my engine seized and I need a new engine.Desired Settlement: I picked up my car from the Jim Curley Kia on a Friday morning after my oil was changed. The next morning my car stalled on the Garden State Parkway and I was told my engine seized.

I have consulted with mechanics and an Engine Specialist who has been building & repairing engines for 40 years.

The Car Specialists all say my engine seized because there was no oil.

The Service Supervisor at Kia told me that they don't know why my engine seized, but a piston could have broken.

The Engine Specialist reported that a car can drive with a broken piston, and furthermore when something breaks in an engine at 65mph the car would buck and NOT stall, as mine did.

The Engine Specialist also reported that when an engine just stalls with no noise and no hesitation the diagnosis is no oil.

I tried to contact Jim Curley personally and he did not reply.

The desired outcome is for the Dealership to take responsibility for an oil change that was NOT done correctly and repair my engine at no cost to me.

Response:

We performed an oil change & a factory recall on the vehicle on 2/27. Ms. [redacted] called the next morning and stated she was driving on the parkway and the vehicle lost power and stalled. She stated that she had AAA so we advised her to have the vehicle towed in. When we checked the vehicle we determined that the engine had seized. We checked the oil level and it was full. Ms. [redacted] is the second owner of this vehicle so the original 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty no longer applies. Kia Motors only warranties powertains for 5 years or 60,000 miles on second owner vehicles. The engine did not fail due to lack of oil. The oil level was full when the vehicle came in. We were unable to determine the exact cause of the failure without tearing the engine down. We contacted Kia Motors on behalf of Ms. [redacted] for some assistance but they were unwilling to offer any. We have seen similar engine failures on Kia Optimas before. In those cases it is usually a piston wrist pin failure. Mr. Curley did not return Ms. [redacted]'s call because he has been in Florida for the past three weeks and is not aware of the situation. We stand by our diagnosis. The engine did not seize because we failed to put oil in it. It appears to be an unfortunate coincidence that the engine failed when it did. The selling dealer should have informed Ms. [redacted] about the reduction in warranty coverage on her pre-owned vehicle and perhaps offered her an extended service contract.
