Jim Douglas & Sons Plumbing Reviews (1)

Failure to repair in a timely fashion. Excessive charge. Douglas and Sons Plumbing was called on Wednesday July 17,2013 to fix a leaking faucet. He arrived that day and diagnosed a leaking hose, which he did not have. He called Friday with a hose in his possession and came to install it. But after working for about an hour, he determined it was not the right hose. I expected to hear from him on Saturday or Monday but did not. On Tuesday the 23rd he called saying he had the right part could be at our home in less than 30 minutes. About an hour later he arrived and began working to install the hose, which took nearly 30 minutes. His bill was for $295 which I was shocked by at the time but paid. I've only grown more shocked that he would charge this when I could have gotten another plumber to fix it since he was taking his time getting it done. He charged me for time where he was not actually repairing but failing to repair. Therefore, I would like a refund. I called and left a voicemail about 30 minutes ago but have not heard from him; so I'm taking this route. Desired SettlementRefund of $165. Business' Initial Response To whom it may concern regarding case #[redacted]:I went to **. [redacted] house on July 17. 2013 to fix a leaking kitchen faucet. After inspection of the faucet, I found that the spray hose was defective, requiring a new hose that would have to be ordered, and told him that I would call him when I received the part. Once I received the new hose, I called on the 19th and informed **. [redacted] I would be coming to install the new hose. I removed the old, leaking hose and went to install the new hose; however, it was discovered that we received the wrong spray hose. Therefore, we reinstalled the old hose and also re-secured the faucet to the granite countertop as requested by the homeowner. I told **. [redacted] that I would try to access the correct hose as soon as possible; this took place on Friday afternoon at 4:00PM. I was able to find the correct hose on Monday morning, the 22nd, and received it on Tuesday, the 23rd, at approximately 12:30. I arrived the same day at 2:45 to install the new hose. At this point, all was fine. The amount of time charged was for the first day, the 17th, and for the final install, the 23rd: a total of 2 hours of labor. **. [redacted] was not charged for any time on Friday the 19th, the time in question. We believe that 2 hours of labor-the first day we arrived to analyze the problem and the last day when the correct part was installed- and the charge for the part installed ($85 for the spray hose) are an adequate charge. Again, he was not charged for the hour we worked on the 19th attempting to put the first hose in, reinstalling his original hose, and re-securing the faucet.
