Jim Hakes Sporting Goods Reviews (1)

November 28, 2014[redacted]Thank you for notify us concerning the complaint from [redacted],Re: 11/21/14 ID of [redacted] of [redacted] Pa. [redacted] purchased a [redacted] Model [redacted] handgun Cal. 22/22 mag. Serial No. [redacted] on March 16,...

2012 at my store at a cost of $429.99On February 26, 2013 he returned the firearm to my store stating “somethings broke, and it will not fire” We explained at that time, that the warranty on the firearm is between the customer and the manufacture, But in the name of customer support, we will package it, and ship it back to the manufacture for repair. We received the firearm back from the manufacture on March 13, 2013 and notified [redacted] that same day that it was available for him to pick up. On April 17, 2013, [redacted] came to my store to pick up his handgun. I explained to him, that the factory states that this is caused by dry-firing the gun and a rim-fire handgun should not be dry-fired. (Dry-Firing = Firing the gun without ammunition in it). He stated at that time that he “did not do this”. I showed him what part was broken (the Transfer Bar safety) and told him that there was no charge.
On July 02, 2013, [redacted] returned to my store with this same handgun with the same problem. Again I questioned him on dry-firing and he denies doing this. I reiterated the factory warranty was lifetime and again agreed to package it and send it back to the factory for him. On July 23, 2013 I notified [redacted] that we had his gun back repaired, and he picked it up on the same day.
On October 28, 2014 [redacted] returned to my store the third time with the same problem. Stating he wanted a new gun. I told [redacted] that in our over 28 years of operation, I had never seen a transfer bar break, let alone sent a gun back to [redacted] 3 times and not be able to be repaired. [redacted] stated “he wanted a new gun”. I told him that the warranty is between him and the manufacture, that he should read his warranty card which came with his gun. On it, is the manufactures address and phone number, and that he should write or call them and express his dissatisfaction. Again I would package it up, and send it back for him to be repaired. On October 29, 2014, I notified [redacted] that his firearm was repaired and is here in my store for him to pick up.
On November 21 2014, [redacted] came to pick up his handgun at my store. He was told at that time that it was repaired, and a shipping cost of $18.14 was due. [redacted] stated “he would not pay the shipping”. It was explained to [redacted] that our store has absorbed the packing, shipping and insurance cost 3 times for free and the gun was and is again repaired, that the warranty is between him and the manufacture. [redacted] became disrespectful and loudly stated “that I don't even want the thing it's nothing but [redacted] Junk”. When told it was repaired again for free but this time we asked him to pay only the shipping. He stated he wanted to talk to the owner I'm done with you. The president of Hake's Sporting Goods Inc. Ms. Janelle S[redacted], Then got involved. She stated that it was again repaired for free three times and asked if he would pay the shipping cost of $18.14. He stated “He's not paying anything”. She then gave him his firearm and told him there was no charge. A customer who was standing beside [redacted] during this conversation stated after he left “that he would just threw that it out the door”. Because of [redacted] actions, loud and rude remarks, and disrespect to our employee's, he is no longer welcomed in our store for life.
