We worked for the customer in to fix a broken half shaft on their *** *** tractorThe customer called this spring wanted us to fix the half shaft that he claimed we had done months to a year before, and inferred it should be done for freeat that point we went back in our records and
found that per the part number, it was the other side of the axle than the one that was broken now, and it was done in October I am not sure when they hired someone to have the tractor brought to us, you will have to request the receipt from them, but the tractor repair that was requested, was completed on June 9, Due to our high volume in the repair shop, we pre ordered the part needed and did our best to get the tractor back to the customer as soon as we couldThe repair requested on the broken half shaft was completed, and in the process, as we completed the requested job, found the bearing was just slightly loose and called the customer about our findingsThe bearing would be on back order for a while, so they opted to take a chance on the bearing, and the concern they may not have the money to pay for the extra jobWhen the customer picked up the tractor, we had discussed the bearing further, and we told them there are no guarantees on how long it would lastThey indicated it would be use, and they would watch itThe customer drove the tractor approximately miles home and not sure of how slow it was driven and was not given particulars if it was use for the tractors recommendationWe did say sometimes they would last a while, and sometimes notWhen a bearing breaks, there will be oil from the detonation, and that may be the caseNothing was mentioned to us about itWe have a long list of repairs waiting to get in to the shop, and the customer wanted us to immediately do the repair, when we have dismantled tractors and equipment in the shop and our long time customers that count on their equipment for their living, needing work done tooIn summary, the job requested was completed, and the customer making the decision to take a chance on the bearing, was their responsibility to handle any consequencesWe sympathize with them, but were unable to take care of the bearing issue that they took responsibility for, and told them it would make more sense for them to take it somewhere local to save on trucking.
