To Whom It May Concern: The first time I met [redacted] at my shop, he was complaining to me about an issue with two new cylinder heads. He had purchased them from an online company. He said he was going to call his credit card company to get his money back. He asked_me to look at...

them and I informed him that it was just a haze of rust from shipping. It could be wiped off and would not change anything. He wanted to drop off a stock intake (not a performance intake), performance intakes are more exacting. I informed him that it would at least be a week or more since I had a lot to do. I have done port work for over 35 years, I explained to him that you should only port certain areas, and he agreed. I said I would also sand blast his intake. His complaint to you said that it was powder coated and filled with [redacted] or something similar. We cannot do powder coat, nor did we fill it with any substance. It was ported to a gasket, which he supplied to us. Sand blasting does not polish, it only removes paint and dirt. When he picked it up he sat outside of our shop for over half an hour, he said it was nice, and then left. A few days later he brought it back to us and wanted a couple of places fixed. He picked it up the second time on January 24, 2018. I had tried to call the phone number that was supplied by him, but it was not a valid number. I had to send a message on [redacted] to tell him it was done when I got home since we have no internet access at Jimmy's Engine. All communication by him was after shop hours. Not once did he call to let me know that he was unhappy with my work, all I got was an unkind review on our [redacted] page one month later. He did not call me or come by the shop or try to contact me in any way to resolve the issues. He decided to do it in public and to try to get his money back over social media. This is the same thing he was trying to do to the other company about his head when he first came to Jimmy' s Engine Service. Regarding the comments on [redacted], in our defense, we thought we had made him happy with our work. My daughter took offense to his post and wrote back to him that instead of contacting us to complain, he had to put it on social media and hide behind his computer instead of contacting us directly. He did not at any time give us the chance to remediate this issue and decided to make it all public. Also, yes, we did want to see the issues he was alleging, but he would not allow us to see what he thought was wrong. As I was drafting this reply I was made aware of a post that [redacted] had made on [redacted] as well. He was again making his complaint on social media, specifically [redacted]. Once again, he did not allow us to address his complaint properly. Sincerely, J

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The set of heads brought up in the first paragraph were my personal heads I pulled off my vehicle. I was looking into having the above business mill then to remove scratches. Once I got the valves out I found a large crack in one of the exhaust ports in the bowl area. Upon speaking with Jimmys wife I was told in that scenario it’s always best to replace the heads. Performance intake or not, tolerances are crutial. I can go out in the garage to measure both my new heads and lower intake and you’ll find a very small variance even in the stock casting. However the product I received has high and low spots all over the port walls and too much variance between openings and ports. I’m no pro but I know enough to agree that you all 6 ports to flow the same or risk lean spots/poor  driveability. In regards to the owners claims, I sat in my vehicle for 30 minutes comparing the lower I received from Jimmys to ones I could have ordered online, that’s when I got a gut feeling things weren’t [redacted]%. I also never did anything to the lower intake other than remove paint from a small area. This is where I referred to [redacted], I never accused them of filling it with [redacted]. I found tool marks under the red paint ([redacted] or spray paint) which led me to believe the [redacted] wasn’t used properly. [redacted] is used to mark port boundaries using a paint or dye so you can scribe the interior dimensions of the ports. Given I found tool marks under the “red paint” it’s safe to say the paint was added after work began on my lower intake. This would also support my suspicion that little to no measuring was done and everything was eyeballed. I do still have my original lower intake and gaskets so I can prove if need be that I haven’t altered the lower in anyway. My attempt to get the issues fixed was on 1/26/18. The date provided by the business as the 2nd time I picked up the lower intake isn’t correct. The date of the charge on my card and also the date my heads arrived in the mail is 1/11/18. Doesn’t quite fit the narrative. He then had it for 2 weeks before it was returned. Got it 1/24/18 and after examining it and getting advice from a few others I took it back on 1/26/18. After 10 days it appeared much better as far as the finish went. Set it aside and continued getting things prepped and cleaned on my engine to replace the heads. On Feb 23rd as I was working in the garage early one morning I decided to remove the paint off of the lower. I didn’t even get a half dollar sized area of paint off before I found the tool marks. This led to me psychically measuring everything out to ensure everything was truly uniform this time around. I decided to contact my CC company due to the fact this business has nothing but good things said about it but I was going to need re-occurring trips to get the same thing I could’ve had done for $[redacted] by a few folks I spoke to online. It is also my concern that altering the port openings anymore to fix variances may lead to a new lower intake being needed, which is why I purchased a second one. Also, there was no daughter who contacted me, I was threatened by the owners son over my review. Any additional comments would have most likely been in reaction to me sharing myself getting cussed out and treated like there was no issue to begin with.
Regards,
[redacted]
