Review: We contacted Jim's Inc. to come and perform a service call on our furnace. It was not heating properly and I was concerned it was beginning to malfunction. [redacted] from Jim's came out and in the course of a 10-minute service call, did nothing. He looked at our thermostat and held a thermometer to it. He looked at our furnace and adjusted the filter but took no other action. He then charged us $150, although we have a service contract that stipulates service call fees are $98. He then tried to talk me into paying $160 because, he claimed he'd get half. He refused to leave until I paid the $150 so I did and called the company.

They confirmed the service call should have only been $98. I pointed out that [redacted] had done nothing and had even tried to get me to pay more for his own personal benefit. I told the company I should not have to pay at all in this case, that we'd been loyal customers for years and want to use Jim's for some electrical work we have planned.

I did not hear from Jim's for a few days. In the interim, our furnace starting buzzing before starting up. Either the thermostat is loose, or the blower motor is going, or the capacitor is bad or it's something worse -- I can't tell as I'm not an HVAC expert. I called Jim's back and asked them to send a technician to look -- but not [redacted] as I no longer trusted him.

The owner called me back after a week and explained that the service call fee is the service call fee whether or not his technician does anything. He would not address Mike's attempt to get me to pay more than $150. He refused to refund the service call fee for Mike's visit and offered to have [redacted] come back out to look into the furnace buzzing. I asked him to find another technician and he said he'd try and call me back.

The office secretary, not the owner, called me after an hour and told me the owner told her that if I wouldn't accept [redacted] to come back out and look into this buzzing, then Jim's Inc. could do nothing for me.

I told her I did not want [redacted] to come back and we left it at that.Desired Settlement: I'd like our $150 service fee refunded. I do not intend to use Jim's Inc. for any further services.
