Dear Sirs ·-I [redacted] Jim's Auto Center, LLC [redacted]
Thursday
December 31 2015 I am writing in response to a complaint you received from Mr.
[redacted] There never was any time limit put on the repairs and...
he
furnished all the parts for the job which is the agreement that was made
between us. Mr. [redacted] was made aware that this was a working facility and
there were other vehicles that would require services while repairing his
vehicle. When we received the parts from him the parts weren't the correct
parts which required us to send the parts back multiple times which added to
the time needed on repairing his vehicle. When Mr. [redacted] would bring the
parts to my garage, I would help him take the parts out of his truck at which
time I noticed there was a very strong smell of cannabis coming from his
vehicle. This may not pertain any to his complaint, but would like it to
reflect as far as Mr. [redacted]'s demeanor. As far as his complaint about the
damage to the radiator, we did not drill holes in the radiator, the fan-shroud
was bolted through the radiator, which broke loose and the fan blades messed
the radiator up. The distributor cap was broken while shipping, which he was
made aware of and he said for me to use it anyway. The air condition compressor
he got was found broken when we opened the box and we were unable to use it.
The lights he got were wrong. Mr. [redacted] became so mean during the process of
repairing vehicle that my mechanic quit and refused to take any more abuse. It
took me weeks to hire a new mechanic to help me with repairing the vehicle. One
of the last services required was the front end alignment. I had taken vehicle
to front end shop for those services. While there, Mr. [redacted] went to the shop
and explained to mechanic there that he did not want Mr. Hudgins to pick the
car up. He wanted to be the one to pick it up after the front end had been
aligned and that he was done with us before we even had a chance to complete
the services on his vehicle. After this, Mr. [redacted] called my home on a
weekend being very belligerent saying that while at the front end shop he saw
that the hood was not totally shut screaming at me and my girlfriend upsetting
our weekend on a Sunday afternoon, when he had been told prior to that we did
not allow calls at our residence on the weekends. I received threatening text
messages on my mechanics phone that I have copies of if needed. On one text he
threatened that he better not catch us out in the public. After the incident
with the front end shop and him stating that he was done with me and he picked
the car up from the front end shop, we proceeded with loading all of his extra
parts into another vehicle that he had been storing here on my premises for
approximately 26 months. Again I would like to state that by him picking the
vehicle up himself caused me to be unable to complete my services for Mr.
[redacted]. I'm not real sure what exactly caused Mr. [redacted]'s demeanor. He would
share with us that his wife was giving him grief, so we thought maybe this was
what caused him to act out towards us. As far as the money spent, Mr. [redacted]
did not spend that much money with us. He shared with me that he paid
$16,000.00 for the car to start with and bought his own parts, so I'm unclear
on how he justifies spending all that money with us. I am retired from working
for Richmond Ford after 25 years doing body work. I have built an outstanding
reputation for my work there and here which I have owned for 13 years. I hope
that I have given you all the information needed to justify our services for
Mr. [redacted]. Please let us know if there is anything further you may need from
me and I will be glad to furnish anything needed. We have copies of the text
sent that have been discussed in this letter and any documents needed to
justify all services. Thank you for taking the time to review this issue. I
feel my services have been justified. Yours sincerely,[redacted]
Review: [redacted] restore was to take 6-8 months rebuild. 26 months later I had to go get my car from a front end alignment shop and pay the bill. I had already paid jim for fro0nt end alignment. the front end shop ran into problems from where jim did not repair engine bay while engine was out. it was left there for over a month outside and collected water in the doors where jim had not replaced the gaskets. they drilled 4 holes in my radiator to mount fan to cause the radiator to leak of coarse. then texted me and told me the radiator came loose from the support and busted my radiator. the rear bumper has 4 bolts holding it on. 2 of the 4 are frozen and will not tighten or back off. broken spark plug, burnt spark plug wires. broken antenna, radio does not work. 1 headlight, 1 fog light, 1 tail light and no parking lights work. distributor cap broke. air conditioner broke. head liner falling out. paint job is like a 5 year old painted it. not buffed out and lots and lots of chipped paint. new chrome pieces are rusted. wires are hanging loose. water is leaking into my interior. bolts missing in motor. body parts that only have 1/2 of the bolts that they are suppose to have. rusted master cylinder. brakes dont work. clutch needs adjustment. he told me the rims and tires I bought did not work on the front. I bought smaller ones. when I got the car I took those off and the first set I bought did fit and are on it now. this man has lied to me continuous. he wanted me to get upset enough that I would come get the car by which finally happened, because he could not get these problems right. over the 26 months I have seen several other customers complaining about their vehicles. I had paid in full plus some and that is another reason he just quit. when I asked him about leaving my car at front end place outside in weather he told me there was nothing he could do. I told him after 2 weeks to go get it and take it somewhere else. he lied and said he would, another week went by and another. over $32,000 spentDesired Settlement: I think partial refund is in order. this shop has no business doing business!! I dont expect anything. I just want this shop to do the right thing. dont expect him to pay up.
