Jim's Used Cars & Auto Repair, Inc. Reviews (1)

Unfortunately, I wrote a very long response to your original complaint but the website crashed as soon as I hit "proceed." In the interest of time, I will summarize my reply the best I can.I am sorry you feel that you did not have an "honest word and repair." You brought your vehicle in to our...

facility on December 1, 2014 (see attached repair order) for repairs to a two-foot section of your brake line. I stayed late so you could pick the vehicle up and I did not hear from you regarding the brakes again. The next day, you came to the shop because "something was dragging" under the car that "wasn't there before" and we brought it into the shop and saw that a heat shield on your exhaust was dangling by a thread. We took the heat shield off at no cost to you. This repair was in NO WAY related to anything done on your brake line.Shortly thereafter, you brought your car to our shop to get an inspection sticker. When it was on the lift, the mechanic showed you that you needed your rocker panels and subframe patched. When you saved up the money and made another appointment for the work on February 27, 2015 (almost three months after the brake line job), unfortunately, the body shop determined that the car would need far too much work for inspection. The rust was much worse than originally thought. It is always a touchy subject when you quote a customer one price and have to call with a new estimate, or even worse, tell someone their car is worse than originally thought, unsafe, or even worse: irreparable. When your vehicle was brought in the body shop for repairs and deemed unsafe and irreparable, the brake fluid was not checked. It was not brought back in for a reinspection, it was brought in for the repairs that were originally estimated, and upon further inspection found to be extremely rusted, to the point that it would cost way more than the car was worth to repair it. When you stated you checked the brake fluid the night before you brought your vehicle in, were you having trouble with the brake fluid? it sounds to me that if everything was fine, and on the way home you lost your brakes, you possibly blew a brake line on your way home. It's hard to tell without seeing it. I am feeling that your anger is misdirected at me since your vehicle is no longer safe for the road. I am sorry you are upset, but I wish you had contacted me to discuss other options instead of using this as a forum for your complaint. I feel that I never misrepresented myself or the business, and I was never trying to be deceptive or dishonest. I am open to discussion if you feel that I did you wrong in any way, but unfortunately with used vehicles and rust, sometimes these things happen. I would hate to lose you as a customer over this. We are both hard-working people who are trying to make a living and keep our vehicles on the road. I hope to keep you as a customer for many years to come.
