J&J Jewelers Reviews (1)

Review: 2 yrs ago I went to the jewelry wondering if they can design a name plate for my daughter. The lady said yes n she said it would cost 400 n she showed me a drawing of how the name plate would look. I said I only had 200 n she said I can leave the 200 n when I was ready to get it designed to let her know because her jewelry designer send the order to N.Y. I said ok n left. evrytime I was goin to drop money off for it something came up so I kept putting it off until I decided I was ready. since a few days ago I been I just decided I rather get the money back. when I spoke to the lady there she got upset n told me that she cnt do anything because this was a lay a way. which, I didnt even know it was a lay a way because its not what we even agreeded to. she had told me when I was ready to let them know when I want it designed n to bring the rest of the money because they weren't gonna send to get it designed unless I payed the rest I owed. she was very rude n didn't even at least offered to work something out.Desired Settlement: eaither some money back or agree to just finish the job after I agree to just pay them the rest or all the money back. its not right that she wants to keep all of the money or not offer to finish the service or give me my money back.beacuse its not like if they even did any work or held something for me or desingend the name plate.

Response:

Ms. [redacted] patronized my store on February 26th2010 looking to purchase jewelry for her daughter. She settled on a custom double plated 3D name plate which is a special order considering we have to design and make the product in house to the customers specifications; this process requires extensive effort on the part of my organization. After having my associate work on a design, Ms. [redacted] approved a design reading “[redacted]” in reference to a nickname for her daughter. I informed her that because of the work involved in creating this custom name plate that she would have to leave deposit in order for us to begin the work. Ms. [redacted] agreed and implied that the name plate would need to be finished in two weeks.Given the short time frame I informed Ms. [redacted] that she would need to leave half of the total product cost ($400) which equates to $200. Ms. [redacted] once again agreed, however she did not have the full amount of $200 to leave for deposit. I made an exception and allowed her to leave only $150 as long as she would bring the remaining $50 to complete the deposit as soon as possible. In receiving the remaining $50 after a week, I began work on the customized name plate for her daughter. I told Ms. [redacted] that the name plate would be completed by the end of the next week. Acknowledging my specified time frame for the completed work Ms. [redacted] informed me that she would be back to pick up the product and pay the remaining balance owed. After completing the custom name plate I called out to Ms. [redacted] and let her know that product was ready for her to pick up. Ms. [redacted] told me that she would be by to pick up the name plate and pay off her balance. I attempted to reach out to her multiple times in order to have her pick the name plate with no response. The product remained on my store shelves for two years until I finally decided that I would expire it from my inventory on June 22nd 2012.Ms. [redacted] sent two women into my store in July 2012 asking for the money back for the special ordered name plate. I informed them that I could not issue a refund given that posted store policy indicates that there are no refunds or credit on special orders and that two years time has elapsed which exceeds our 60 day responsibility for goods left at our store. I had given Ms. [redacted] two years to come back and pick up her item and had just recently withdrawn the product

from inventory. In my defense I provided Ms. [redacted] with ample time to receive her product as well as reached out to her on multiple occasions.

Sincerely,

Wow, reading the response upset more than they keeping my money because mostly everything they just said is all a lie. I can't believe these people even do business with people. Innocent people. They plainly took and are still taking advantage of me. I understand that they feel the need to make things up because they don't want to return my money but that is not fair to me because we never talked about any policies or time. All she said was when you are ready bring

the 200 because we send to make it in new York and until you pay it off we can't send to make it. I never even said I need it in two weeks because if that was the case I would've waited till that week to bring the whole amount. I was never in no hurry for that name plate. they never even called me and told me it was ready. That is such a lie. Unbelievable. if I knew it was done I'm sure I would've flew over there to get it but since I knew that it couldn't b made unless I payed all the money it obviously didn't motivate me to get it because there was notthing to get. I'm sure that is their defense that it was completed and that they called me and spoke with me to make themselves look like they did all they could...This isn't right and I need someone to help me with this complaint.

Revdex.com Complaint #: [redacted]

Vendor Response To whom it may concern,

I have reviewed Ms. [redacted] rebuttal and would like to establish resolve in the matter. I am willing to offer a “STORE CREDIT” up to $100 or half of deposited monies for special order considering labor costs involved to create the name plate. The credit is to be used within a 30 day time frame exclusively for sales or service beginning on the 1st of September 2012 and ending no later than close of business on the 30th of September 2012; given I will be absent from store operations until the beginning of the credit time lot. There will be NO refund of any sort to be issued; i.e. partial credit usage remaining balance cash credit, no cash credit on any returned items, no subsequent exchanges. All sales and service transactions according to store credit terms and accepted by customer are final.

I am rejecting this offer because 1st of all, they keep lying that they did any labor. They never made anything and they never even called me and communicated with me that the pendant was already set to pick up. Also, I don't agree with getting 100.00 dollar store credit when it was $200.00 and they had never told me about any policies. They said when I was to be ready to have it made to just bring in the other half so, that they can then send to get it made in New York. Since, they do NOT send to make those name plates until it's payed off. I'm sure if I had gone in the store with the other half of the money she would have sent to get it made but since I wanted my money back she got upset and spoke rudely to me. I told her I would have to do something about this and she rudely said I can do whatever I wanted, that I can call the cops, bring her to court or do anything I wanted. I don't think it's fair that she's offering to give me a $100 store credit for 30 days. I think maybe is she was to allow me to just pay her the other half she can accept to really do the labor for the name plate that was never even created. Then maybe I can just go about it that way. Which that was what I was debating on doing but then my daughter had said to forget it. If I knew there was a policy of 90 days that she mentioned to me on the phone when I sent my mother and aunt, and then she mentioned on the report here that it's a 60 day policy. Furthermore, she said that I wanted that done in 2 weeks. I would not have never payed her until I had all the money if that was my case. Like I said I wasnpt in no hurry. If I was I sure would've been responsible to finish paying it off if I had known I had a time limit. There's no way I forgot that I gave her 200.00.
