Regards, [redacted] ***

Mr ***, Was quoted a re-install of a plow frame onto his vehicle over the phone unseen. He stated a new vehicle frame was installed on his Vehicle, *** ***. During the installation process, it was discovered that the newly installed frame was not of the same style/design of the original
The open end of the frame that allows access to the install the proper hardware was closed off, not allowing me to install the plow frame per manufacturers’ specifications without cutting into the frame and voiding warranty and/or creating liabilityNumerous phone calls were made to my District Service tech (*** ***) and also *** MfgAll parties (***)agreed, that they were not made aware of any changes to the frame and highly suggested not cutting into or manipulating the frame for installation, due to liability and it is not the recommendation of proper *** plows. I also advised *** ***, from ***, that Mr *** had spoken to someone else who was a dealer who stated they could do the install on this type of frame and how this was possible? He said he was aware of that and who it was, because of his conversation with Mr***, but that individual had developed his own tools to do so and he was cutting in to the frame, something again they suggested should not be done do to safety and liabilityI reassembled the vehicle and called Mr ***, advised him of the situationHe asked if I could take pictures, I said I would try, but everything was back togetherHe was aware there would be a labor charge for my time, which was less than halve of the time I spent trying to resolve the situation of determining if the plow frame could be mounted properly and safelyLater in the day, He then threatened to cancel his credit card charges, I asked that he would not do that and I would prefer that we try to work this out instead, and I would Split the labor charge with him, if he could provide me with the contact info of the shop who said they could install the plow for himI wanted to confirm that he was having it done, which I thought was fairHe decided to call his credit card company instead and fight the chargesI tried to work with Mr*** on this, but he feels that my time if worth Zero value and I disagreeEverything I did and followed was by the MFG installation process of the plow he had, unfortunately we hit a road block with the newly designed frame he had installed on his vehicle that no longer suited the plow frame he had originally

It is obvious, that Mr.[redacted] and I will not agree on how this transaction was completed. I think offering to split the charge with him, if he was able to find a reputable [redacted] Dealer who could install his plow frame correctly and safely, per manufactures guidelines, was more than fair. As of today he has chosen not to do that.I work directly with the [redacted] Manufacturer, not [redacted]. All my information and correspondence comes from them. I had nothing to research or be concerned about because, there has never or never been an issue or change in the [redacted] Frame prior. During this installation issue, I was in direct contact with my District Service Department and [redacted] Mfg. Multiple phone calls and conversations took place about the change in the [redacted] Frame, that wasn’t there previously on any other installs of the same model vehicle. Both contacts were unaware of the change that had been implemented by [redacted] up until this point, making [redacted] unaware that their existing installation process would no longer work on the newly updated frame [redacted] was using.I clearly stated to Mr [redacted], that the end of the frame, which is a rectangular tube, was now closed off on the end, making it a box. With the plate now on the end of the frame I can no longer access the inside of the tube frame to secure the hardware as required, and I would not cutoff or manipulate the “frame” to do so, because it is part of the vehicle structure, it has hardware fastened to it for the bumper mounting and is protected with an anti-corrosion protectant (the reason the frame got replaced) that would be damaged during the manipulation/fabrication.The verbal quote that was given, was just that, sight unseen, expectations of a normal install, because we have never  had any issues prior with new frame installs, So there was no reason to think or know differently. We ran into issues during the install process that was no fault of ours or [redacted]. There was a running change in the part that [redacted] used. It seems both parties here are on the losing end of this issue. I know Mr [redacted] feels he paid out money for diagnostics, but I also only billed out 1.5hrs of the 4hrs we spent trying to figure out what and when the frame changed, and if there was a way make it work, correctly, safely and liability free, and again, I was willing to split that cost with him as stated previously. Bringing my Billed time down to .75hr of an actual 4hrs accumulated.

3 weeks prior to the vehicle being dropped off with [redacted] at J and J small engines. I called and spoke with [redacted] and asked him if he has installed [redacted] plow frames before on a 2005 [redacted] replacement frame.. [redacted] stated YES. the cost would be 150.00 for the install and another 50.00 for hardware that I will need to order before the install. If he had never installed a [redacted] plow frame on a [redacted] before, why did he state he did? I thought, because he was listed as an authorized trained installer from [redacted], he knew what he was capable of doing. He had 3 weeks prior to the vehicle being dropped off to do additional research (ie what the frame looked like), since he had already advised me that he has installed on replacement frames before and needed to order additional hardware to mount the frame. [redacted] quoted me a price for an installation that he stated that he has performed before, in which he did not have the prior experience or capabilities to execute the job. it was beyond his experience and capabilities... If he had stated that he has never installed a [redacted] plow mount to a [redacted] replacement frame, I would have NEVER, schedule an appointment with J and J small engine. your not learning on my truck.  Unfortunately, that wasn't what I was advised from [redacted]. He was an expert and would not be listed as an authorized installation if he wasn't. I have installed before and it will cost you 150.00 for the install and an additional hardware for 50.00 for a total of 200.00.  I am not confident that [redacted] ever took off the bumper and evaluated the frame and that's why he never took photographs of the supposed issue he had that stopped him from preforming the install. but I still had to pay for non service that I was sold that he was capable of performing the installation.  If [redacted]'s at J and J Small engine is allowed to quote a job (based on previous experience), but fails to perform any work, how is it an acceptable practice for him to charge labor or time for work that is never done? [redacted] can state he has limitations for every install that comes into his shop and receive payment for work that is never performed. why not.. there was a bracket in the way, the bolt is behind a panel I cant remove because it will void your warranty, because I don't do it that way and you still owe me for my learning time even though we came to [redacted] at J and J because he represented himself as an expert in this area.if this is acceptable industry standard practice, I too will open up a small engine shop and never perform any work and just collect a "learning curve diagnosis fee of 95.00 an hour and never take anything apart or take picture for the customer since I am pulling his leg since I have never installed one of these thing before. Is this an standard acceptable business practice?

Unacceptable, [redacted] did not make a special replacement frame for my truck, considering the testing required to approve the existing replacement frame through the federal government because of the recall. [redacted] represented himself and his shop as an expert in the area of mounting frames. that's what was presented to me at the time I scheduled my install at his facility. If he stated he did not have any previous experience with [redacted] replacement frames, I would have never scheduled the install at his shop. [redacted] also stated in his previous comment that the bumper was off the vehicle for 4 hours as they were trying to figure things out. but at no time during the 4 hours was he able to take pictures of the obstruction he states that restricted him from completing the install. wouldn't those pictures have been beneficial to send to [redacted] and his distributer, showing them the obstacle from mounting their product?4hrs of researching what to do next and at no time was a photo taken and presented to other shops, [redacted], and distributors asking "have any of you run into this and if so what is the solution"? again, I question if the bumper was even removed at all and I was charged 135.00 for absolutely no work at all.
