As a matter of normal business practice, Modern offers financing options to customers considering a home improvement purchase, with special financing customized to fit their budget needs. In order to do this, we ask permission by phone to pull credit prior to the estimate. If no verbal authorization...

is given, we do not pull credit. Having ascertained that permission was given by this  potential customer, we did pull credit. As a possibility that there was a misunderstanding as to our intent, we have requested the credit bureau Equifax to remove the inquiry from the record on 08/31/2015, which should be actuated at least 30 days from the stated request date. We apologize if there was a misunderstanding and would like this customer to know that our intentions were based on giving them as complete as possible information package regarding a potential purchase and nothing more.

Although I did not engage in business with this company, I decided to enter into their $5000 give-away that they advertise on a reputable, local website. A few days later I receive a phone call, and they would like to come out and do measurements on our windows, supposedly for a voucher that entitles me to a future discount. Although we need new windows, we are not in a position to buy yet (hence why I entered into a contest). I asked if I could discuss this with my spouse, and the individual became very agitated, and wanted an answer during that telephone conversation. A business that acts more like a telemarketing service is, in my opinion, not the type of business that I would want to responsibly handle such a major renovation. My type of business needs to be ethical, and concerned about my satisfaction.

As of today (12-17-15) These windows were installed on Friday December 11th and the customer told our installation crew that they were very happy with the work that was completed. Christine, the General Manager has left [redacted] two messages to make sure that this information is correct. At this...

point we are just awaiting [redacted]'s call regarding this matter. Please have [redacted] contact Christine Pauly, General Manager if there is anything else we can do to make him happy, we are doing everything we can to please this customer.

Modern has reversed the bank charges on this transaction as of September 8, 2016. The customer may be advised to contact the three credit bureaus as to her AKA status with said reporting agencies.  Modern's intent to see the customers after the cancellation was to explore options available to...

assist the customers with any perceived difficulty in carrying out the purchase, since said cancellation came weeks after the legal rescission period on the contract for the work. Modern always makes a strident effort to help its customers with any difficulty, especially in a case such as this wherein a previous customer calls us up and requests us to come out and quote them more work.  Modern requests Revdex.com upper management to strongly consider the customer's intent (conveyed to us by their legal council) that this complaint be expunged from the Revdex.com record as Modern did nothing knowingly wrong in our attempt to process and complete a legal transaction that was cancelled without explanation.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.   Regards,  [redacted]

I was visited today by Brian M[redacted]...salesman ,under the impression that I was going to receive a $1200 certificate..instead he came over to only respond about my windows I had recently replaced through a friend...which was negative....then when asked why I had to give my social security # he responded with a lame answer...also asked him about the negative reviews and he got agitated....and then on his way out got nasty with me....this is not a person or company I would deal with...so I give them a zero rating..sorry but salespeople should be different...he couldn't make a sale and didn't like it....oh well he does not get a commission on me!!!! Would not let modern ever do windows for me!!!!

The company originally did a good job when we purchased our windows about 8 years ago and we spent a good deal of money on the work. They supplied Andersen windows that came with a lifetime guarantee. Now that there are problems with the windows it is like pulling teeth to get them to come out. 2 years later and original problems with the windows are still not fixed. They schedule to come out to our house between 1-5 and it turns out to be between 630-7. On top of that they won't call to notify you that the service person will be late. You have to chase them. Then to make matters worse they don't even send somebody with the tools to fix the windows. The man they sent out was very nice and knew windows but he was a salesperson. He took care of some of the minor problems and said we would schedule another appointment where he would come out with an installer to address the major problems. So our next appointment the same salesman shows up with no installer stating that he requested an installer but for whatever reason the scheduling people did not send one out for this appointment. Again he fixed minor problems with the windows and we were forced to make another appointment. Our most recent interaction we were guaranteed by the scheduler that we would be first on the list for calls between 8-9. 1130 I call wondering where this person is and apparently there is another mix up, the serviceman was supposed to come to us first but instead went to Pennsylvania and won't be back in our area until 3pm and they will "try" to get him to come to our house after. They are very apologetic and understanding but unfortunately that does not fix my windows.

Inquiry was successfully removed regardless of the fact that permission was granted for the credit pull.

As a service to its potential customer base, Modern verbally requests permission to pull a credit enquiry in order to advise potential clients of the availability of financing for a potential purchase of windows. The act of pulling an [redacted] bureau report normally results in a minor 3 or 4 point TEMPORARY reduction in score. [redacted] bureaus can be accessed by the imputting of a person's name, address, and phone number. We never ask for a social security number unless it is to consumate an actual purchase requiring financing, in which case the lending institution would likely then pull a full 3-bureau report. Modern strives to make clear our intentions and we apologise if there was a misunderstanding in this instance. We have subsequently instructed [redacted] to remove the inquiry from the subjects' [redacted] bureau records.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and through an attorney have settled this complaint amicably, and this resolution is satisfactory to me.  Regards,  [redacted]

Regarding complaint ID #[redacted], our customer signed off on our service visit on September 19, 2014, during which the technician re-acquainted the customer with the proper usage and functioning of the windows and their locking hardware, and made the customer aware that one particular screen was not...

engaged within its master frame track (referring to the bowed screen frame) which was remedied on site by popping the screen back into it's track. Please see and refer to the (attached) signed service
