Contracted waste management company for Belle Isle,JJ's Waste & Recycling, needs to do their job and stop playing games with residential customers!!
We never had any issues with yard waste and garbage pickup until JJ's Waste and Recycling became the vendor for Belle Isle residents.

After a typical quarterly trimming of the cluster of banana trees in the back of our property we cut the trunks, which were only 3-5 inches wide, into 2-3 ft logs that were stacked and we topped each of the 6-7 tree's keeping the large palm leaves connected together and clean each piece would be easy to throw into the back of the trucks that pick up the yard waste. This is the same process that we've always done and with the prior company we never had any problems, and everything was cleared no matter how much there was as trimmings can vary in size.

After a partial trimming we left this yard waste out on Sunday May 10 for our normal yard waste pickup occurring every Monday. After everything was completely ignored by JJ's Waste on Monday and then again on Tuesday, which is our 1st of 2 trash days (Tuesday's and Friday's) I ventured outside to find that their workers had left 2 door hangers, not on the door, but directly on the pile of waste, where one had of course blown off becoming trash in the middle of our street!! So instead of picking up our trash, JJ's had left the trash and had added more trash to our neighborhood!!

After reading the door hanger, which seemed to have endless reasons for this company to use as an excuse to not do their job, simply picking up your trash, I called the city to explain the issue, I realized by the reaction of the person taking my complaint that problems with this company obviously commonplace and they confirmed how excessive complaints were for JJ's Waste were. The door hanger stated to bundle the waste and after explaining that there was no way to effectively bundle 10-15 pound logs or the tree tops, which were self-contained and effectively bundled by simply leaving the clusters of palm leaves attached to the top of the trunk to the city representative, she understood and suggested I contact JJ's.
I contacted JJ's and apparently spoke with a manager named Madeline whom I repeated the same explanation and she assured me that she would alert their driver to pickup everything that Friday (3 days later).
That Friday, JJ's truck pulled up next to the yard waste to the side of our driveway, which had now begun to smell, and I watched from my office window, as the 2 men and the woman driver, all got out of their truck to stare at the yard waste for 30 seconds or so, not pick up anything and then get back into the truck and drive away!

I immediately called JJ's again and after finally getting Madeline on the phone, she became flippant and dismissive, apparently completely forgetting her prior assurance that their company would have everything picked up Friday.

This past weekend I tied to lines of rope around a couple of the tree tops, knowing this was pointless and that because of the size and weight of each of the individual tree tops, trying to tie 2 or more together would be pointless and wouldn't hold.

Now one week after our yard waste should've been picked up, I made sure I was outside when the JJ's truck pulled up and I watched as the 2 men reluctantly tried to pick up the picked up the 2 tree tops that I labored to bundle together and of course the rope came apart, since the tree tops were too heavy to be put together. Then because I, the home owner was present, I watched as they put each of the 2 tree tops that had come apart into the truck, followed by emptying 2 small garbage bins, then giving a nonsensical excuse that they'd be leaving everything else (70% or more of the yard waste that was there) for yet another week, because they had reached some limit!!

Desired Outcome

So now after originally putting out, what would be considered a medium sized amount of yard waste, it appears we'll have rotting yard waste stinking up our street for several weeks before JJ's Waste & Recycling stops playing games with residential customers and actually decides to do the job they were contracted for!! Improve your customer service and do your job, by picking up the yard waste put out by residents and learn the realities of blanket rules, such as simply telling customers to bundle everything, when that often doesn't work with particular types of yard waste. When there is an issue or something needs to be corrected by a customer to facilitate your services, instead of lying to a customer in an attempt to placate them temporarily, try explaining your request and stop putting illogical notes to customers printed on door hangers and leaving them directly on piles of waste or garbage so that they can become more garbage in the streets you service!!

After contacting and meeting with management from JJ's I was appreciative of their immediate efforts to correct the issues id previously experienced and improve communication to ensure similar issues with various residential waste pickup in our area doesn't continue.

I'm satisfied that my original complaint has been more than adequately addressed and fixed by the company.

My neighbor is doing work and I live in a cul-de-sac that runs uphill. During the time that they switched dumpsters, they parked one dumpster in front of my house and took the 2nd which was full, lifting it at an angle. Needless to say, a roofing nail must have fallen out and got jammed in my husband's motorcycle tire. My husband had picked up a similar nail from the same area just the day before. He calls the manager, Mike (who refused to provide his last name) and said that unless we saw the nail fall out, he can't be responsible. We have the Ring Doorbell showing how the dumpsters were moved but they refuse. Lousy company with lousy customer service.

Don't waste your time with these folks. I signed up with them 1 year ago when they were new to the area. I am all about giving new business a chance. They were very happy to accommodate whatever your needs were. I did not even give them a hard time when their driver broke a water line during 1 pick day. I paid for the line to repaired. Here we are 1 year later and I am guessing now that they have bigger and better contracts those of us that gave them the time of day when they were trying to get established don't matter anymore. I renewed my contract with them and noticed that my weekly service was not being picked up. I contacted them about it and they said the drivers leave early so they would need a key to the gate. I did not want to give them 24 hour access to my property so they abruptly canceled my service and picked up the dumpster. The sales rep Wendy was great and tried her best to help resolve the situation. We decided on an alternate lock for pick up days so I had to sign a new contract. At that time I decided to go with a 2yd bin instead of the 4yd I previously had which was $60 vs $85. A day later I get a call from Wendy advising me that in order for me to keep the service I had to remain at the same price point as the first contract. Ok so no big deal I can take the 4yd dumpster I previously had. But NO they wanted me to keep the 2yd at the 4yd cost instead of just swapping them out. I was completely appalled, and isn't that illegal? Very poor service from a company that started off so great when they were vying for your business. They will also make you sign a 3-5 year contract that is completely one sided favoring them of course. I hope more people come forward with their bad experience with JJ's Waste.

Don't be fooled by the persistence salesman they send out. What they promise they wont deliver. Started out nicely, small bin four days a week pick up. Couple months later they changed their agreement to two bins twice a week. Then they stopped sending me bills, which resulted in no service. Once that we cleared by my payment of 3 months in advance, the service resumed. Three months later they start coming at 6am when we are closed and our gates locked. When we complain they give us less 24 hours notice that they are ending the contract and will Pick up the bin the next day. I have never seen a company with less ethics or customer service. Steer clear of this company and Jason Russo their pushy salesman.
