is a characteristic of the shaker door style/ In an effort to satisfy the homeowner JKB living and Monschein industry, cabinet subcontractor, coordinated to create a new style door to match the installed drawers and prevent the "blow back" effect in the doors.Per the inspection of Monschein Industry's representative on 1/22/15, the "bubbling" at the top of the doors at the master bath and kitchen is due by water damageWater damage is not covered by the JKB Living Limited warranty or California SBThe cabinets installed are for kitchen and bathroom useThe buyer did upgrade to stainThe cabinets do not have a water resistant finish but a stainStanding water will damage the wood product. This letter is in response to complaint ID 11983946.To address the homeowners request for new carpet has been denied. There was no evidence of damage to the flooring. In an effort to resolve the buyers concerns the builder offered to clean the carpets. The buyer declined the offer. Please note the...

buyer was out of contract when she was unable to complete her loan due to financial trouble. The contract was to close on or before 12/31/2015. The builder  did continue to market the home due to uncertainty of the buyer's loan. The buyer was able to close escrow on 2/9/16. The homeowner also stated the builder did not resolve walk thru items and the builder has not been in contact with the homeowner. I have attached the Buyers Orientation Tour List with action items. All items on the list were complete prior to the buyer taking posession of the home. I have attached a copy of the Warranty Service Request form submitted by the homeowner on 1/4/2017. Lastly I have attached a response letter to the buyer dated 2/1/17 advising the status of the Warranty Service Request form. The builder has been contact with the homeowner  and initiated the service work orders with respective subcontractors for repairs. Should you need any further information please contact me at [redacted]Sincerely, [redacted]Warranty Manager

Review: We purchased a home from JKB Living in June 2014 and have had issues with our cabinetry from day one. Before we moved in all the cabinet doors had to be replaced due to blow back in the finishing process. There were sections of the cabinets where the finish did not cover. Two days after the new doors were installed one of the doors in the Master Bath I noticed the finish was peeling off the top of the door. One door issue I could handle at that point we just wanted to be in and get settled. As time went on and I dusted our cabinets due to all of the dust from construction around us I began getting chips from the cloth sticking to the uneven areas of the cabinet tops. Once I had a chip with bare wood I knew the time to had come to get it fixed. I filled out the warranty service request form per their instructions in January of 2015 and never received a call back until I personally called the manufacturer and they came out. JkB living called after to only find out if I was happy with the service saying nothing of their findings. Monschein called at a later date to tell me that JKB Living told them to give me an estimate to replace the cabinet doors because they were not covered under their warranty. While the repairman was here working on the hinges that come apart continually, the doors that would no longer close properly and put some stain on the chips. He was explaining to me how the damage was caused by water and we should not get water on the cabinets that on in our kitchen and bathrooms because that is not covered. I contend that if the cabinets had been manufactured properly and had a smooth finish on the tops they would not have chipped. The uneven surface is also allowing water to get in small areas and make the finish bubble. When I filed the paperwork we had only had the cabinets for 6 months and they contend that the damage was due to water damage caused by me in 6 months. What was the upgraded finish we paid $600.00 for should that have helped prevent the damage also.Desired Settlement: I would like a representative from JKB to come out to my house to personally look at the issue and explain to me how they can justify living in a home 6 months the small amount of water that is dropped onto the top of cabinets doors can damage the finish and nullify any warranty. These are suppose to be cabinets made for kitchens and baths if they are not able to handle a small amount of water then they should have purchased cabinetry that could.
