Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/04/25) */

We were hired by the client to do some gutter work, paint removal on the side stairs, reapplication of sealant on the home, tuck-pointing and replacement of the front concrete stairs....

1st I want to note that the client went over all of the work that was done before making the final payment and agreed that the work was completed to her satisfaction. The husband even mentioned to us some more work that he would like to have done.
We removed all of the possible black paint from the side stairs, we did the gutter work and the tuck-pointing (doing an even larger section that was requested), we applied the sealant around the home as was desired and finished the concrete stairs, giving them a textured finish (to make them slip-resistant). After the concrete was set we came back to re-install their existing (older, slightly rusty wrought iron) handrail. The epoxy was placed in the holes to secure the handrail. I received a call complaining about the epoxy and since the contractor has other jobs quite far away the earliest he could come was 3 days later. He then placed more epoxy in the holes (while both the husband & wife watched). We were then informed that she didn't like the finish on the stairs (even though they are what we always do and are safer when the weather is bad) so a worker of ours came to re-finish them for the smooth finish that she desired. Upon hearing that the handrail still wasn't secure the worker placed a few screws (the type open up at the bottom) to make absolutely sure that the handrail was no longer loose. I want to mention that she was told both times when the epoxy was placed that no one should touch the handrail until it is set, we have never had this happen before and believe that they must have been bumped or the like by either family or someone coming or going from the house. We are aware that [redacted] runs a daycare out of her home and that is why when we were informed that the handrail was still loose we placed the screws, for safety purposes. She also complained about the sealant running on one side of the home, we applied it as was requested, there was no issue and still is no issue, I have photos of all the work along with the signed contract showing what was to be completed. I believe that since this customer was pushing for discounts in the beginning that she is just trying to get some of her money back and believes that by complaining to the Revdex.com that we will be intimidated. We came back and refinished the stairs upon request even though there was nothing wrong with them, we secured the handrails and did everything that was part of the contract plus some. We were hired to complete a job and that's what we did, we try to make all of our clients happy and some people take advantage. Please contact us if you want more information.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/04/27) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The epoxy was applied on Saturday. JL Crater listed in their response that I run a Daycare from my home which is true. However, I didn't have any daycare children the day the epoxy was applied nor did I have any children the day after. JL Crater and I negotiated a fair deal for the work they completed. In addition, I contacted multiple concrete companies who agreed with me that the concrete stairs were not finished correctly. The screws should have never been put in the hand-rails. I have someone else coming this week to re-set the rails which wasn't properly installed. [redacted] the owner put a quarter size hole in the concrete before reinstalling the rails. He did not make the holes large enough. After I looked on you tube I learned that the holes were to be 2-4 inches in size. After which, anchor concrete was suppose to be put the holes to anchor the rails. With their response, they indicted themselves with improper reinstallation of the handrails. Moreover, per [redacted] the owner of JL Crater, his worker put too much foundation sealer on the side of the house. [redacted] also said that he was going to come back and correct the problem and he never came back. I have our email communication. I will fax this information to the Revdex.com once I print them out.
