Review: Company was contracted to complete survey work on our property being required by Hanover County Va. When presented the job, company stated they would be able to do it and therefore we proceeded in hiring them. We were quoted $4,500 for the job and asked to pay half up front before work would begin, which we did. This was in the summer of 2015. By February 2016, the final plans had yet to be submitted to Hanover County. The companies owner, Jeff L[redacted], had stated to us that he had everything done but would not turn in the plans until the balance of the invoice was paid. The remaining balance was paid to him via check February 2016. At the time, Hanover County had given us a drop dead date of April 11 to submitted all the plans need for the job. Mr. L[redacted] was aware of this deadline in February when he stated everything was already done and all we needed to do was pay him. April 11, 2016, some two months after we paid him and plans were to be released, Mr. L[redacted] submitted his work to Hanover County. Most of which was wrong, despite Mr. L[redacted] having the requirements for the job from Hanover Country for months now. It is now May 9, 2016 and Mr. L[redacted] has yet to correct his work and several pages are missing all together. When confronted, Mr. L[redacted] continually states that he is either "currently working on it" or "will have it turned in by tomorrow". This is documented in months of emails, voicemail's and text message records. We are now in extreme violation with Hanover County due to Mr. L[redacted]/JL Surveying's lack of ability to do the work they were contracted and PAID to do. As a result we have incurred thousands of fines with the country because of this company, in addition to the $4,500 we are out of pocket that has been paid for a job that has not been completed.Desired Settlement: JL Surveying needs to return the full $4,500 paid to them and should be held responsible for the $5,000 we have been assessed in fines due to them missing the deadlines set by the country for work they never submitted.
